The random japanese allergic to pollen be like:

59

u/Tallywort 1d ago

Eh, not too much, realistically. They get pollinated by bees and insects, instead of dispersing their pollen into the wind.

Birch though... Makes my nose stuffy every year.

16

u/IntrepidWanderings 1d ago

So... I can enjoy this phenomenon without my ears bleeding?

11

u/PM_ME_ANYTHING_IDRC 21h ago

Does pollen make your ears bleed??? 😟

6

u/IntrepidWanderings 20h ago

Few times, yes. I have hearing damage in the right ear from sinus infections started by allergies. It's not something most people will experience, but enough force building up in the sinuses can force it out of ears. As well as affecting eyes.... And gums. Don't get teeth drawn during allergy season, it comes out through the hole.

In my case, teeth growing through my palet into my nasal cavity caused less space in the sinuses... And led to some pretty extreme infections before they figured it out and I could get the teeth removed. Teeth would start infections in the sinuses, or make them worse. The pressure build up forced the material through my ears, damaging them... That causes the bleeding.. and impacts in the ear canal. Not as painless a process as a nose, does a good deal of damage in the process. Apparently it's something of a family thing, my brother had a similar experience... My nephew, 1 year old, has already had a sinus infection that effected his eye. I suggested my brother have his mouth xrayed when his adult teeth come in, just to make sure he doesn't have extras growing into odd places like I did.

There's no birch where I live but they're so beautiful.

19

u/TitleComprehensive96 1d ago

But it's not freezing and i can't hear someine screaming "DAIGUREN HYOUINMARU"

3

u/RazTheGiant 12h ago

They did specifically call it a blizzard in the title

Always wondered where they got the petal blizzard attack ideas from... Kinda explains soo much... Imagine someone with awful allergies walking through that and just channeling the suffering into manga...

Im no writer, but i can understand this

10

Art is suffering as they say. Lol

Today I saw a post of japanese rabbits kick fighting each other and then a lot of rabbit-like anime characters made sense.

I opened the comments and saw this gif pop off right when the beat dropped for the music 🤌

29

u/Sporty_McSportsface 1d ago

Same and I’m happy about it

6

u/Roflkopt3r 1d ago

I figured there would be more of this Senbonzakura (or even the original) instead of Bleach.

Seconded.

36

u/Dd_8630 1d ago

What are those words

69

u/erevos33 1d ago

Byakuya : character in an anime called Bleach, one of the best imo.

Bankai : one of the top fighting moves that a person can learn. Byakuya's turns his sword into a flurry of petals that he can manipulate at will.

62

u/Icepick823 1d ago

Technically, his sword turns into tiny shards that reflect light to resemble cherry blossoms.

40

u/2th 1d ago

And shred a mother fucker like they have been tossed in a meat grinder. His Bankai is one of the most brutal ones out there.

8

u/DogsRDBestest 1d ago

I want to watch bleach but it has like 400 episodes. WTF?

20

u/erevos33 1d ago

Lol those are rookie numbers. One piece has blasted 1000 episodes and going strong.

As far as bleach goes, there's a lot of filler episodes you can skip.

See here:

https://www.reddit.com/r/bleach/comments/lmaj0d/how_to_watch_bleach_without_the_fillers/?rdt=62855

14

u/DogsRDBestest 1d ago

Around 200 filler episodes. That's just insane. Half the anime is filler.

18

u/erevos33 1d ago

Trust me, it's worth going through it once. But I also hate fillers (ahem Naruto ahem) so I provided a way around it.

And the pay off is great, especially with the new arc blowing all expectations out of the year after a multi-year hiatus.

Byakuya's bankai and the animes violin theme are my message and ringtone sound slol , I might be a bit biased.

4

u/DogsRDBestest 1d ago

I don't like skipping anyway. So I'll watch it soon.

4

u/erevos33 1d ago

I really hope you enjoy it!

4

u/DogsRDBestest 1d ago

Let's hope so.

6

u/Viracochina 1d ago

Oh wow, I didn't realize they had new ones after the original run!!! Thanks!

5

u/erevos33 1d ago

Drop everything and go watch it ! Now !!!

On a serious note, it's good, I have a gazillion questions, and Ichigo has no bankai , again? Maybe?

Glares as her eye twitches... Oh the exhaustion of one piece...

Don't scare the new comers, you know they gotta build up stamina and go through the rite of passage that is Naruto. Maybe ease it all in with fairy tail as an entry level.. At least that's where I usually make people start, just throwing them into one piece is a bit cruel for right off the bat.

2

u/erevos33 23h ago

I HATED Naruto filers , vehemently

2

u/IntrepidWanderings 23h ago edited 23h ago

Yup... That's why is a work up lol. Remember when you first got into anime? You got to build up the patience, and learn the flow of the episodes... Or throw something at your tv.

2

u/erevos33 23h ago

Porque no los dos?

7

u/anicemeangirl03 1d ago

As someone else said, there are lots of filler arcs that can be skipped and the number could be much worse. Though I do think some of the stand alone filler episodes are a fun watch to break the pace of the canon content. If you can get into the anime breezing through the actual ~200 episodes will feel like nothing.

2

u/DogsRDBestest 1d ago

I generally don't like to skip shit. I've watched gintama completely.

4

u/IntrepidWanderings 1d ago

Master the fast forward button, find a site that recaps and just skip the worst of the filler episodes. Unless your me, I rather like the sappy, but ultimately not important to the overall story episodes... some days anyway. Though Noragami usually fulfills my need for something with less screaming and intensity. But you stand on the brink of a whole different anime subculture of you veer too far.

2

u/DogsRDBestest 1d ago

But you stand on the brink of a whole different anime subculture of you veer too far.

3

u/GreenUnlogic 1d ago

Lots of filler. Check out some skip lists.

2

u/DogsRDBestest 1d ago

Around 200 filler episodes. WTF?

3

u/GreenUnlogic 15h ago

The anime was like 40% filler. But some of the filler arc were at least interesting as a week to week watcher. Now on a re-watch I would skip them all.

It’s my dream to see sakura blossoms bloom one day

122

u/farte3745328 1d ago

Washington DC might be closer to you than Japan and they're abundant here.

32

u/IntrepidWanderings 1d ago

They are pretty, not exactly as magnificent as the ancient ones, but pretty.

28

u/alex3omg 22h ago

They're literally gifted by the Japanese government and have been here for decades, they might not be 'ancient' but most trees in Japan aren't either.  How long do cherry trees live?

13

u/IntrepidWanderings 22h ago

Between 20 and 100+, variety and environment dependant. Range of 15 to 50 foot growth. Perhaps ancient isn't the correct word... Let's go with something like .. Less impressive. I saw them many years ago, they didn't have the reach and solidity of trees in other countries. Just like I appreciate a dragon fruit where I live, but it's not the same growth you'll see on a mountain in Hawaii.. Pretty, but lacking the full reach of its potential. They struck me as trees that were still reaching their full height rather than trees that have grown tall and then spread their branches, developed a thicker trunk. Still fresh and unaffected by the world as when you purposely plant an orchard. And a bit out of place, but most plants are out of place in DC, especially that close to the station. The white house trees would feel the same if they weren't planted in the open lawn without the concrete background.

A bit like gangley teens vrs a fully mature adult if that makes sense.

25

u/yareyare777 1d ago

Yeah, seeing them in Japan is by far better than DC, but if DC is more doable, it’s cool to see once at least.

5

u/IntrepidWanderings 1d ago

True. I have made a point if it a few times. More modern beauty but the hosiery is interesting and it's not like cherry groves are all over in the us. Though if you going to, always take time for the zoo and museum cycle!

5

u/whimsical_trash 19h ago

Also Philadelphia. I walked through a literal cloud of falling cherry blossoms today

This footage is triggering my allergies instantly.

47

u/BeefyIrishman 1d ago

Imagine that, but yellow-green pollen instead. That's what is going on in North Carolina right now. The pine trees are jizzing all over everything. People with allergies are struggling right now.

Example for anyone who hasn't seen it before: https://www.reddit.com/r/NorthCarolina/comments/1jo7u46/the_pollening_2025/

31

u/Bag-of-Holden 1d ago

7

u/BeefyIrishman 1d ago

Yeah, that's pretty much how everyone is right now. For a lot of people, even allergy meds don't help that much because there is so much of it.

3

u/Bag-of-Holden 1d ago

i know, im one of them

6

u/NuminousNewfoundland 1d ago

wearing mask other benefits

3

u/one_bar_short 1d ago

I was in Raleigh one year and came outside the sky was yellow. It was like being in a sandstorm of pollen, as some one who suffers from allergies, it wasn't a fun time

3

u/AdministrationDue239 1d ago

I'm super allergic right now Pollen are killing me but cherry blossoms are fine with me

2

u/Keoni9 22h ago

That makes sense. Cherry flowers are pollinated by insects, but the allergy-causing flowers of pine, birch, cedar, grasses, etc are wind-pollinated. Which is why it's impossible for "local honey" to serve as allergy immunotherapy as any trapped pollen will come from nectar-bearing, insect-pollinated flowers instead of wind-pollinated flowers.

75

u/Jethro_Jones8 1d ago

*Yīnghuā, Sakura is Japanese.

79

u/Roflkopt3r 1d ago

Or just cherry blossoms.

45

u/akise 1d ago

Exactly. Fucking weebs.

30

u/Roflkopt3r 1d ago

It's not even just weebs, but low-level weebs.

High level weebs have advanced so far into Japanese issues that they understand the cultural sensitivity of calling something in China by its Japanese name.

And endgame weebs wouldn't bother with posting to an English message board anymore.

7

u/tommos 22h ago

Thank you loremaster.

2

u/chikinn 5h ago

Also, "sakura blossom" is redundant. "Sakura" already means "cherry blossom".

Fun fact about Japanese: the word for "cherry" ("sakuranbo") is longer than the word for "cherry blossom" ("sakura"). Cultural priorities!

3

u/Roflkopt3r 3h ago

Also, "sakura blossom" is redundant. "Sakura" already means "cherry blossom".

Yes, but it can also be used to referr to the whole tree. I think it's fine that the English language settled on distinguishing it in both ways (sakura tree and sakura blossom) more often.

I would say that it's part of the identity of Germanic languages to prefer more precision even at the cost of longer sentences, while Japanese likes to ommit unnecessary details and is fine with keeping such things a bit vaguer.
