Head even further south and take in the giant redwoods. If you’ve never been, your mind will be absolutely blown.

My goal is to go before 2030, any pointers for getting the most out of it?

Fly into San Fransisco, rent a vehicle and get north on the 101 ASAP. follow the 101 until you hit the Columbia River, turn east to Portland. Fly home from Portland.

As a Canadian, the weather in early November was perfect shorts and T-shirt weather. The locals, particularly in Cali, will be in winter jackets but don't mind them.

Fly into Eureka and avoid 5 hours of hell

eh, once you get out of the mess the 101 is still nice up to Eureka and it's an international airport not a regional one so flights are cheaper and rentals more plentiful.
