Discussion Reminder: WE OWN DENVER’S DRAFT PICK!

Let’s talk Denver Nuggets. 0.5 games ahead of the play-in, with a tough remaining schedule (Kings, Grizzlies, Rockets).

THEY JUST FIRED THEIR HEAD COACH AND GM!

They are currently 3-7 in their last 10. They ONLY hold the tiebreaker over Memphis, out of the 5 teams in contention for seeds 4 through 8.

The LOWEST they can drop is the 8 seed. Denver falling to the 7 or 8 seed and entering the play-in without a GM or head coach is a very ideal situation for the team that owns their draft pick… our own Orlando Magic.

Denver’s pick is protected top 1-5, so our best possible outcome here is Denver losing in the play-in and getting number 14 overall pick.

Is This Anything? Trade Idea: Orlando Magic Acquire Devin Vassell in Deal with Spurs

Posted this in he Spurs sub too to see what they think.

Proposed Trade:

  • Orlando Magic receive: Devin Vassell
  • San Antonio Spurs receive: Wendell Carter Jr., Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

Orlando’s Perspective:

The Magic are one elite perimeter creator away from being a serious threat in the East. While KCP offers reliable defense and spot-up shooting, his skill set is limited to catch-and-shoot opportunities and off-ball defense—redundant on a roster already built around low-usage, defense-first guards.

Devin Vassell solves that. He’s a fluid shot-creator who can initiate offense, operate in the pick-and-roll, and provide secondary playmaking—without sacrificing the positional size (6'5" with a 6'10" wingspan) that Orlando covets. He offers far more on-ball versatility than KCP, and fits perfectly alongside Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Jalen Suggs in a balanced, switchable lineup.

Adding Vassell gives the Magic a long-term backcourt pairing that can grow together and raise the team's offensive ceiling.

San Antonio’s Perspective:

For the Spurs, this is about roster balance. With Castle likely to assume a 2 guard role alongside Fox and Wembanyama demanding more offensive responsibility, Vassell’s on-ball role becomes less defined. Flipping him for Wendell Carter Jr. gives San Antonio a starting-caliber stretch big who can complement Wemby’s unique defensive skillset and keep him from having to bang inside every night.

KCP, meanwhile, brings veteran experience, championship pedigree, and two-way impact—ideal for a young Spurs team looking to take a step forward without compromising the long-term rebuild.

TLDR:

Vassell gives Orlando the perimeter scoring and creation it sorely lacks. San Antonio gains a frontcourt partner for Wemby and a reliable 3&D vet to stabilize their rotation. Both teams move closer to their respective goals. Salaries match up perfectly, win-win.

Discussion Nuggets Draft Pick

Nuggets just lost their 4th game in a row. They’re 47-32. Warriors, Grizzlies, Clippers, TWolves are all 46-32.

Wanted to bring to everyone’s attention that the Nuggets could be playing in a play in game so yeah… something to root for I guess.

Discussion 2022 Draft Top 3 Picks

Anyone else predict that OKC and Houston would be in a better position than us a couple years after the draft?? Or was it just me?

Of course we easily got the best player in that draft, but yet we seem to be in the worst position compared to OKC and Houston.

Why us??

Discussion Why did we draft Tristan Da Silva last year

I still don't get the logic behind drafting Tristan Da Silva last year. In my mind you draft a senior or an old rookie when the team is in financial trouble, and we had so much cap space last year. Da Silva isn't bad, and when Paolo and Franz were out last year he provided good playing time, but with the whole team going I don't see his role. Not only that but you draft him when you still got the younger guy in Jett Howard and his minutes are just gone. At the time I was shocked they didn't take Collier, actual facilitator with proper upside rather than taking a 23 year old who isn't gonna get much better than what we see now.
