Weekly Thread Weekly General Discussion & FAQ Thread - March 31, 2025

Please use this thread to share podcasts you're currently listening to, to ask for recommendations, give critiques and complaints in a civil manner, and to chat about general podcast-related things. This is not a thread to promote your podcast nor is it a place to rant about things about podcasts that annoy you - these comments will be removed.

Also, please check out our wiki info pages including listener FAQs and our list of other podcasting subs. You might find the answer to your question on one of those pages. If not, please feel free to submit all frequently asked questions (FAQs) here.

Individual FAQ posts will be removed and users will be directed to post their question here in this thread. Be as specific as possible - "looking for a new podcast" is a bit broad.

If you are helping / answering a question, be polite and not condescending. People are here to find out information.

Please report any posts or replies that don't follow these rules. Thank you all!

Tip of My Tongue Lost podcast

Upvotes

Hoping someone can help, my grandmother has been watching the Netflix show Adolesence and wants more info on internet culture and the rise of right wing radicalisation in younger people.

There's a specific podcast I listened to maybe 2ish years ago I know is exactly what she's looking for, but I can't find it or remember the name for the life of me.

It started out with interviews with a long term self professed right wing internet troll (who had listened to the Breaking Bad frozen parody song several hundred times), then later went pretty in depth on how algorithms drive engagement. That's pretty much all the specifics I remember.

Thank ou to anyone can help, or anyone who has alternative suggestions on the same subject.

Fiction What happened to A.R. Olivieri Podcasts?

So I wanted to start my re-listen of Magic King Dom today and to my horror discovered that not only this one but all the podcasts that A.R. Olivieri made seem to have disappeared off the internet😭

Does anybody know what happened or if there is a way, like patreon or smth, where i can still listen to these podcasts?

Apps Favorite Free Podcast Player that works on desktop and mobile?

I saw Attenae Pod being recommended like crazy but it doesn't seem to have desktop option and I listen to podcasts most often when working on computer.

Mostly for listening to Rachel Maddow Show so it has to have that.

I don't need anything fancy, just has most podcasts available on it and can save my place and note which ones I've watched

Arts & Culture What’s going on with JVN’s podcast?

So I fell behind a bit on Getting Curious. I saw the artwork changed, but now it seems to be a whole new podcast? But it looks like he has two now?

Can someone give me the lowdown on what he talks about on the different podcasts now? It’s kinda confusing to keep up with him as this happens a lot.

General Podcast Discussions I lost my comfort Podcast today

After around two months with no updates not counting a delay announcement, Have a Listen to This uploaded a short 2 minute message that they would stop the podcast, as they cannot get back into the rhythm.

HALTT was a lighthearted podcast that emerged from a fun Magic: The Gathering themed podcasts started in 2019 that was then succeeded by the general themed one, when one of the two hosts moved back to Australia with the other sitting in Ireland. It was basically just two friends talking about all kind of things, giving life updates and self-indulging in inside jokes, sometimes from all the way back in the magic days.

For somebody just listening to some episode, it probably wasn't very good. Random, disconnected, sometimes funny, sometimes less so, sometimes serious. But they always had great chemistry, as the podcast was always intended as two friends at different ends of the world catching up.

But for me, it was weekly soul food. I started listening during the pandemic when I was part of the MTG community and then stuck with it and got to know snippets of the life of the hosts. I also listen to the (actually very good and much more successful) history podcast of Riley Knight.

When I listened to the quick announcement, I felt really empty. It is silly really, just 45 min stories a week of people I don't even know. I thought I was never somebody for parasocial relationships. But it was the only podcasts where I regularly grinned like an idiot when commuting and something light-hearted that distracted me from all the bleak stuff going on right now.

What's the point of this post? I don't really know. I guess I just wanted to get this out of my system. Did any of you ever get hit in a similar way, by a podcast ending suddenly?

Horror & Paranormal Looking for psychological horror anthology podcasts

Not gory or gruesome, but more disturbing, terrifying, twisted, really make you think type stuff. Sort of macabre mystery like. I want it to be spoken spookily, almost softly and mysteriously ( not like somebody is just reading off lines ) and between characters like a tv show, no narrators ( no "she walked to the door" or "i walked to the door", just make the sound of a door opening. Act it out. )

What else can I listen to that will actually disturb me psychologically?

General Podcast Discussions Road trip with my dad tomorrow, give me some recommendations. History, comedy, pretty well open to anything

We love conan and have listened to all of those. Smartless we like too. What would be the best would be like 1 hr or less historical stories. He really likes personal war stories. I'll probably throw on the fall of civilizations pod, but the eps are pretty long and maybe too sleepy for a long drive. Need some other stuff to switch it up. I'm up to date with most of my pods so I'm running dry on content.

News & Current Affairs Anyone a listener of Breaking Down: Collapse?

Obviously with current events right now I’m more and more concerned about catabolic collapse as discussed in this podcast. But I guess I’m still convincing myself otherwise. Anyone else listen to this pod? Not brave enough to post on r/collapse, those people are intense.

General Podcast Discussions The Carson Podcast listeners: Did anything come of the streaming service that was going to have old talk shows which was advertised on the podcast for several years. I think it was called VicTV.

I am doing a listen through and haven't heard all of them but in the ones I'm listening to now Mark often plugs a streaming service which hadn't yet launched which would have old talk shows with a searchable interface to find specific guests and subjects. I was to cost just $9.99. This is the only thing I found. https://www.linkedin.com/company/victv

Tip of My Tongue help me find this podcast episode

it was likely from a human interest/personal stories type of podcast such as this american life, snap judgement, invisibilia and the like.

it was about a woman who was, i believe, scandinavian who decided she really wanted to learn to sing. she started out not very good at all but she just committed herself to taking voice lessons really consistently and working really hard on it and she got to a point where she actually got really good and even became locally famous.

General Podcast Discussions How do you approach listening to a 3hr + podcast?

I prefer to listen and watch a podcast on youtube and sometimes I will do audio only when I'm going for a run but when it comes to really lengthy podcasts - do you listen in one go? or chop up over a few days? what activity are you doing to listen to it?

After about 2 hours I feel the need to move on to something else or come back to finish it up later.

I've also been taking the transcript of it and putting it into chatgpt for a summary and key points, and action steps I can take with the information.

Just curious what works for you for the longer ones.

General Podcast Discussions Philosophical podcast created and presented by AI

AI condensed and provided a canvas when nudged with conflicting prompts regarding Purpose of Life. Uploaded the canvas to NotebookLM, which gave a podcast out.
https://open.spotify.com/episode/1U0rcgrDjmTutpFRHmy7wc?si=Bu95nsF9SZ-FKm83e7q-Qg
Never been a big fan of AI tools and agents. The application of knowledge consumed and the presentation being close to a real human is scary and astounding at the same time. Thinking of doing a series on this over the week. Content creation and any form of creativity is seriously at risk.

General Podcast Discussions Proof S1: I haven't cried this much listening to a podcast since Sh!t Town!

I just finished binging season 1 of Proof and I'm just in tears. My goodness, what a wonderfully done show. Heartbreaking. Inspiring. I'll have to add Undisclosed to my list but this was a hard listen at times and I may need some emotional rest before hearing more stories of injustice. This one really hit me in the feels and the ending has me a blubbering mess. Absolutely loved it!
