Love Obama till the day I die.

He’s a part of the machine too. Killed a lot of innocent people over seas. Less of 2 evils but no one who has been president should be loved, at least not any president in the last 50+ years

The alternative was to immediately pull out of a country we already destabilized the government of, which would create a power vacuum and doom the region to turmoil. Drones were an attempt at not putting American soldiers at risk.

This “every president is a war criminal” mentality is one part of the road that led us to Trump by increasingly dialing up the cynicism and treating war as a foregone conclusion. It also entirely lampshades the fact that all Americans share blame for what their country does, not just the head executive they put there to manage the situation on their behalf.

I have absolutely nothing to do with the military industrial complex and the wars overseas. Almost none of us have any blame in that

Ok, but that’s a really small comfort for the people affected by our military’s actions for you to wash yourself of blame.

We live in a democracy. The people we voted for took us there. It didn’t happen out of nowhere, both parties become more warhawkish in the past fifty years as they became more right wing.

If voters aren’t to blame then who?

If you’re eligible to vote, you’re part of the blame. Period.

I wasn’t eligible to vote until 2020 and voted Biden Harris. What else can I do

I hear you. I get it

Well to be fair, it's not like he was the one behind the joystick of an AGM drone going "watch this triple kill, Michelle"

Or sharing emojis of fist bumps, fire, and the American flag in anticipation of killing lots of human beings.

To be fair, he wasn’t far removed.

America is in the business of killing. I’m not saying this to defend Obama at all I’m saying this to say Obama’s faults are far from just the drone strikes. To me Obama only ever gets up to speak when it’s too late and all he ever says is the same “hey guys this is crazy” ass speech that never moves a needle or energizes a base. He’s comfy and probably could care less. I love that he’s because this beacon for black success in America I really do, but as a president and former president he will go down as soft and complacent.

He pulled us out of 2008.

I like to think the OP is referring to the personality and character of the president vs their presidential decisions.

He’s a lot better man than what we have now

Loving the president who sided with corporate banks when they tumbled the world economy is definitely something.

I encourage you to read “Too Big to Fail” and Obama’s memoirs before coming to this conclusion.

I am familiar with it. Thing is, bailouts might have been the "only" option, but the complete lack of accountability, prison sentences, any semblance of justice coupled with no change whatsoever in the banking culture he presided over is absolutely barbaric. Obama is an establishment guy. He was always going to protect the interests of the ones who put him there. He was not an outsider even if he is black.

Take notice of what Obama has done for the DNC after he left. You'll see exactly what he stands for if you give a closer look.

Again, I encourage you to actually READ them. Familiar is not having read thrm.

You have clearly not read them based on the comment about prison sentences.

I think Trump is evil and regarded and voted Kamala but I don’t think Barack is a hero at all

Well yeah but he was a well spoken black! Those optics are worth a dozen corporate bail outs and countless civilian deaths by drone strike! /s

It’s sad cause I’d love him to be president now. Truly blame the system not him
