Is it true that he didn't place tariffs on Russia?

Yes, but to be fair the US and Russia have minimal trade relations. There is about $3 billion in trade between Russia and the U.S. per year. That the amount of good that crosses the US / Canada border PER DAY. Russia also has sanctions on it.

So it’s bad Russia got left out (because obviously trump is tanking the economy for the benefit of oligarchs and Russia) but also it’s not theat much of a flex to point out Russia isn’t included

This line of defense completely falls apart when you realize that islands that are uninhabited except for penguins are on the tariffs list. Last I checked, our trade relations with penguins are also pretty minimal.

Many of those islands are part of the commonwealth so they get wrapped up in tariffs of larger countries or put in place to prevent using them to go around tariffs on larger countries. I completely think trump is in russias pocket and that’s even the reason it’s not facing tariffs, I just don’t think it’s a surprise or big news and I think the Russia versus small islands thing kind of makes the people using it as a smoking gun look a little alarmist, I dunno - could be wrong, but I don’t like it

Their absence from the list speaks volumes

Then why did they take the time to place fake "tariffs" on other countries with sanctions and/or lower trade volume? 🤔

Even Iran got hit while it has a ton more sanctions than Russia on it.

My understanding was that Iran wasn’t on the tariff list either.

They got 10%, the same as other countries ChatGPT couldn't find trade data from.
