Bring in Washington and Oregon and get a corridor up the west coast. Let’s connect Canada and Mexico and the sane US states to create a powerhouse trading union

Serious question. What would stop red states from buying from California. Goods could go into the states un-tariffed and companies could still increase prices

That is almost certainly what is going to happen with the tariffs anyways. Regardless of if a product actually has a tariff, any alternative can (and almost certainly will) still raise their prices to, say, 90% of the increase of tariff priced goods - especially if it's a basic commodity.
