Is it true that he didn't place tariffs on Russia?

It’s insane. He placed tariffs on everything, practically, to try and incentivize companies to move their supply lines into what he’d consider more “favorable” countries. This idea makes a lot of sense if you try to think like Trump would, because their first-term tariffs just resulted in companies moving their supply chains into neighboring economies (article). So the idea is to apply tariffs again, but try to control that effect, and thus have control over which economies are strengthened. I guess the theory is, apply tariffs to everything you don’t want them to move their supply chains into—that way their most logical options are ones you’ve deemed favorable.

Then remember, Russia and North Korea weren’t on the list. China, Vietnam, the UK, … all on the list. I have a theory these tariffs might be a way to incentivize companies to do business with Russia. It makes sense, he and Putin are best buds. Russia has the motive to ask evermore so now than before. Trump’s giving Russia a bone during their fight with the Ukrainians, and it’s disguised as something that fuels us with personal anger so to keep our wits on the lower hanging fruit.
