I get infinite schadenfreude from watching otherwise "principled" conservatives twist themselves into a knot trying to explain Trump's actions using a framework they can understand -- while Trump does whatever he wants on his own logic.
Pro-Ukraine MAGA: "Trust me guys, Trump has a plan, he's gonna come down hard on Putin any moment now"
Anti-war MAGA: "Doesn't really want to annex Greenland and Canada. We won't actually start a war with Mexico and Iran.
Pro-business MAGA: "There's no way he'll actually do blanket tariffs, it's a negotiation tactic."
Followed by: "I'm sure he won't actually keep the tariffs up, he's just spooking all our trade partners into obeying his whims.
Free speech MAGA: "They're undocumented and/or not full citizens so they don't have full free speech nor due process.
It's horrifyingly sad, but I'd prefer to laugh at the cognitive dissonance tear their minds apart.
