🍁 Canadian Who to contact if prerequisite questions?
Hi everyone, if I have questions on whether a course would meet prerequisites or if they fall under the science gpa courses, who do I contact? Amcas or the actual school I plan to apply to?

Amcas would answer what it falls under. Each school would confirm if it meets the requirement. Preferably after amcas decides the category.
Then contact the schools directly to ask w a course description. And for the love of good don’t send mass email with same wording for everyone to schools that don’t have prereqs asking if the course meets the prereq requirement.

Ahh okay, will not send mass emails to those without prerequisites!! Thank you! And just to clarify, AMCAS will let me know if a course will fall under the BCPM courses used for sgpa?

Reach out to your pre-med/pre-health advisor. They should be able to answer the question. You can check school specific websites, or see how AMCAS classifies a class you might be taking. I'd reach out to the schools directly as a last resort, I don't think they love getting emails about this. Keep in close contact to your pre-med advisors, they're great resources for making future schedules.

Thank you! How does one obtain a pre-med advisor? I’m from Canada, and we don’t really have that. Now that I think about it, I’m assuming a lot of people still apply beyond undergrad, can I just get one now?

At my university we have a pre-health advisor's office (multiple academic advisors dedicated to anyone doing some form of pre-health education, not just pre-med). I still get access to these resources since I am an alumni (2 years since graduation). I guess you might have to do some research into the university you attend/attended. Try looking into the academic advisor's office, maybe they can direct you to a pre-health advisor or someone who has more knowledge in that area.
