Had to replace the ignition switch and get a new gas line. Took a lot of elbow grease, but was worth the work.

First timer. Any Advice on how to restore this antique Coca Cola Cooler?

My grandparents passed away recently and I found this old cooler in their garage. I’d like to try and restore it and give it to my mom to remember them by.

I’ve never done any restoration project like this before. Any advice on how to start approaching it?

I think taking it apart, stripping the paint, polishing the metal pieces, and buying a Coke-colored red spray paint makes sense, but how could I re-paint the logo?

I appreciate any tips!

First time restoring something. Got this for $45 on FB marketplace. Been down the YouTube rabbit hole.

I'm thinking

  1. Take it apart
  2. Scrape off chipped paint then wire brush
  3. Evaporust
  4. More scraping
  5. Clean with dawn
  6. Sharpen
  7. Primer?
  8. Paint

Does anyone know what size light bulb goes in here? It's for a 1950's hockey game by Eagle Toys Ltd, Canada. It takes a single D battery

I have an old freezer full of mold, how do I fix it?

Hi everyone, I'm a student and I got this freezer as a gift. It works, but it's dirty and full of mold. I don't know anything about restoration, could you give me some advice?

Yes, I need to do a thorough cleaning, remove the old insulation from the door (the mold), and buy a new one, but what else?

Thank you

Sorry in advance english isn't my first language

My brother inherited our grandpa's lamp amp and one of the speaker is ripped. Problem is we can't find any specs on the speakers. We need to replace this speaker but the risk is that if we don't have the right resistance, we risk damaging the board. Anyone can help find the specs?

I recently just inherited this cigarette case that my Great Grandfather used in WWII and would love to restore it to use for myself. What’s the best way to go about polishing and sanitizing it without ruining the finish? Not too sure what kind of metal it is… Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

I restored this vintage Wilton Vice, it came from my Grandfather’s shop in West Texas, it was seized, once loosened up, I disassembled, rust converted and painted it. I’m excited to install it on my workbench as a tribute to him.

It’s ready for its next 70 years of service!

Vintage German C series found on the side of the road

I live in Germany and found this C series on the side of the road for trash day. I’ve tried to look up info on it but it seems that dating the C series is hard because of the Soviet invasion on Germany. So if anyone else any other info on this series I’d love to hear it. We are going to work on getting it restored to a much better condition. YouTube here we come! Any advice, tips, tricks are very welcome

When it was together it was wobbly and the wood glue used to keep it together dried out and the fastening screws were all different.

Looking for help cleaning up this wood printed photo

Hi! My dad asked me if I could clean up this old picture for him. It appears to be all one solid piece, with the photo on the raised middle. It obviously needs a serious clean, and it's also been in a smokers house for years.

Doesn't need to be perfect. Other than cleaning, he wanted me to colour match the scratches if possible. I have a lot of art supplies and mediums so that's not a big issue in terms of finding the right materials.

What's the best way to clean it up? What's the best way to approach fixing the scratches? Should I seal it afterwards?

Thanks for any help!

Looking for a replacement for this bracket (missing identical bracket on other piece)

Post image

I've spent a lot of time looking for something that can substitute the identical piece on the other side of this sliding door. The small piece that forms the L and points down in this picture is the more important part (it allows the door to sit in it's rail)

If anyone has any creative ideas or leads I appreciate it!

I've mostly been trying to track down which gauges are missing and making templates for the missing wall pieces. I've included one of our other aircraft which is in thankfully much better nick because it looked nice in the sun.

Cleaning, restoring and maintaining candlestick holders

Thumbnail

Hi ! I would need some help to, first clean, the restore two candlestick holder. I have absolutely no clue what metal they're made of. I mistakenly thought a boiling bath would be a great idea. The wax would float to the top and voilà, all clean. I did not go as planned lmao. Now the whole holder has a very thin coat of wax and it aggravated the oxidation.

How can I effectively get the wax off and how can I clean the oxidation ? I want to spray paint them once I'm done but I don't know how the paint will endure if it oxidizes again and with the scraping.

And does anyone know how to get the the remaining wax out of the holes ? Most of the times the whole candlestick doesn't burn all the way, there's always a few centimeters of wax remaining. I scrape it with an old screwdriver but there has to be a better way to do it.

Thank you very much !

Can't tell it seems brass underneath but has kind of a copper green corrosion? Is this possible to polish or clean or should I scrap it? It's got a little family value but if it's not a simple clean it's probably not worth keeping..

I would appreciate some advice regarding how I might make a new stud to replace the one missing on my coffee table

Post image

I just had a new coffee table delivered. One of the decorative studs is missing and I don't want the hassle of an exchange because it already took so long to arrive ( and I'm happy with the partial refund they company offered).

I've tried to reverse image a close up of one of the studs to see if I can find them for sale online but I couldn't find anything similar enough.

I'm new to trying to restore old knives. I've read a billion different ways to do remove rust and polish metal, but I'm not having any success. I watched a guy on YouTube use a Dremel tool with a polishing felt pad to remove rust and the black marks. I tried the exact method and not only did it not work, the felt pad disintegrated and flew everywhere. I'm just looking for ways to remove rust, polish/refinish the metal. I attached some photos of the knives.
