never see anyone publicly whistling anymore

i never see anyone whistle in public anymore. like where are all the people nonchalantly strolling down the road, whistling a tune with their hands in their pockets, and saying good day to random strangers?
i want to learn how to whistle better now. like i always wanted to be one of those people who were able to whistle an entire song, but sadly i am unable to
how do u whistle better guys??

Life long whistler here, I try not to in public cause it can be loud. I hum or stim to myself a lot though, whatever song is stuck in my brain for the day. I also nod or say hey to ppl I make eye contact with. Always gotta thank that bus driver, too.

To get better at whistling focus on the shape of your mouth and lips first. Should be pretty tight and pursed but open enough to control the airflow. I’ve learned to wobble the air kind of recently, makes it sounds like a bird call.

Keep being friendly and wanting to whistle in public. There’s not many of us left.

would you recommend sucking the air in or out? i suck it in but my whistles are quite feeble

I would say do both while you get the mouth shape down. Then you can try and focus on air control and pushing air out.

Try humming along to songs you’d wanna learn to whistle to gauge your breath control. It’s all about the breath and air. You’ll be whistling whole tunes in no time 🫡

I'm a strong whistler and can only do it by blowing out. I can get a sound by inhaling but I can't really control or sustain, and it needs a different mouth shape.

One time I was smoking weed on the balcony at night and I saw a man walking his dog holding a sword. I was a little freaked out but then he saw me and started whistling. I ran back inside.

There is a dude that lives in my area who does it and it’s legit creepy as fuck. Loud pronounced ghost ship type tune and he doesn’t seem stable.

Seems like a the start of a terrible scene in a movie whenever I hear it start.

I whistle when I walk but more to make people get out of my way if it's a busy sidewalk or if there are blatantly ignorant people with no manners.
