Because he is spiteful, ignorant and doesn't care for consequences, only messaging.

Because him and his people are all morons. They act impulsively, while disregarding local experts. The country is being run by a bunch of Dunning Kruger Effect olympians.

Donald Trump is a moron. Full stop.

u/mrcorndogman33 25d ago
Sure but he's also a very cruel person who manufactures a problem, then claims to solve it, even though that usually creates an actual problem where there was none before.

Two 20 something dumbfucks' from DOGE tried showing up and turning the valves themselves but CA water officials wouldn't deal with them as Trump wasn't sworn in yet. Some water in CA is controlled by the Army corps of engineers. So he had them dump it as a political stunt. CA is having a dry year and well be missing this water come summer.

u/molotov__cocktease 25d ago
Man, I actually tried talking with a trumper about this and they could not wrap their minds around the fact that the water could not be used for the fires and that releasing the water is going to screw the country if California has a drought this year.

u/karenskygreen 25d ago
Trump is a stable genius, he knows water and water flows. Undoubtedly some woke nut cases set him up and diverted the water to make him look bad.
Or what ever bullshit excuse Trump concocted to explain this.

u/psilocin72 25d ago
And his idiot fans will repeat whatever he says even if it is total nonsense and obviously false.

u/sjmoore69 25d ago
This seems like a good way to bankrupt thousands of family farms and allow hedgefund agriculture to swoop it up at depression level prices. It's a great time to be able to buy a gold card citizenship just in time to snatch up the land that used to be owned by families. Just saying...

18
u/Equivalent_Bother597 25d ago
Because he's actively trying to fuck over as many actual humans as possible.
18
u/Raidthefridgeguy 25d ago
So that he could declare a state of emergency later, and demand Canada āturn on tapā of water(spoiler-it does not exist). It is another way to find a reason to annex Canada. It has the added bonus of being able to claim the governor of California is not qualified when drought and fire season rolls around.

u/Evinceo 25d ago
This is probably giving him too much creditĀ

I really hate when people say this. You see no strategies that have paid off? If you donāt, then I think youāre wrong about the goal.
You can think whatever you want of his intellect and competence, but the fact is he has a massive team, which includes billionaires and their teams and resources, and I can guarantee you that almost any EO, comment, act, or decision serves a very specific purpose, is laying groundwork or eroding something.
The tariff thing seems dumb, unless the point is to tank the stock market for brief periods of time so stock can be bought up cheap, or if accelerationism and isolationism is the goal, or if the goal isnāt to make American strong, but to weaken it, so that more extreme measures can be taken under the guise of strengthening it, and for contingencies on executive power can be met, or the interests of new allies, including billionaire private citizens as well as counties we are not used to being allied with, are the new primary focus.
I make no claims, Iām just parroting the ruminations of others, but the fact is, everything so far makes perfect sense and is disturbingly logical if you divorce your expectations from the status quo, and explore what other outcomes may be the goal.
Itās cathartic to call people stupid, but they are making tremendous progress on every single one of their goals. Anyone who doesnāt take that seriously, because they find it comforting to imagine incompetence, will probably end up regretting it imo.

I think Trump so stupid and think the people pulling his strings are definitely not stupid.
1
u/Icy-Bicycle-Crab 25d ago
Sure, or, he's a reality tv celebrity who doesn't know how to do anything except create fake drama.Ā
3
u/robotatomica 25d ago
If Iām being honest, I think thatās self-soothe. You want to imagine he may be dumb enough to be ineffectual.
But the evidence frankly doesnāt support that, when he is employing strategies that not only ARE bringing them closer to each of their stated and expected goals, but also strategies that we understand WORK.
Yall need to widen your perception of what kinds of strategies can be successful. I donāt really even relate to how so many of yall feel, bc I canāt think of hardly anything heās said or done that didnāt move his allies closer to their goals.

u/dern_the_hermit 25d ago
But it's not just him, it's a smorgasbord of bad actors with terrible ideas for craven and cruel purposes. He's just the nexus of all this shit.

u/Worlds_Worst_Angler 25d ago
Because heās a fucking moron who only engages in performative bullshit for his legion of brainless cult members.

u/DanglingTangler 25d ago
Ah fuck. Not pumped to read this as a Canadian. If you fuckers invade, that is super not cool.

There are many 10ās of millions of us that feel the same way. Iād say a few hundred million actually. Just aghast at this nonsense.

u/noh2onolife 25d ago
Just an FYI: those signs have been up on I5 for years. They are usually addressed to Biden and Newsom. This isn't a new complaint of Republican farmers in California, and as of 7 days in the south and yesterday afternoon in the north, none of the signs (Northbound or Southbound) about "wasting" water addressed Trump.

He got confused, and thought that the water would flow south to Los Angeles?
For the proponents of the '4-d chess' version of Trump, he anticipated Canada's reluctance to become the 51st state and general recalcitrance toward the tariffs, so dumped the water so that California farmers wouldn't be able to water their crops this summer so there would be less food grown in the US. In his mind, hungry Americans would be more than happy to invade our neighbors to avoid starving. Waiting with bated breath how he's going to direct us towards invading Canada instead of Mexico.

I think he thinks water in a reservoir causes catastrophic dryness and wind

I would like to know how he had the authority and ability to do it at all, and what consequences will be faced by the collaborators that pulled the lever?
1
u/Icy-Bicycle-Crab 25d ago
Well, he's the president, which makes him the boss of the army corp of engineers and gives him the legal authority to issue them orders.Ā

He hates California and heās going to use it as a pretence to try and get Canadas water.
1
1
u/Agitated-Donkey1265 25d ago
To give him a pretext to go after Canadaās water in his bid to annex it?
Which is horrifying
1
u/Btankersly66 25d ago
It was to prove to Newsom who has the actual power over California's water supply.
1
u/DrDorg 25d ago
The same reason he pulled out of the Paris Climate Accord: to hobble the US ag industry and give Putin the advantage. Putin is sitting on millions of acres of farm land, all trapped under ice. The sooner it melts, the sooner ag industry, extractive industries, and real estate folks can get their hands on it

u/Rexel450 25d ago
Putin is sitting on millions of acres of farm land, all trapped under ice
But he knows what Ukraine has.

u/ZenoOfTheseus 25d ago
Because he's stupid AF.
Hurr durr. I'm gonna force California to release dam water. There won't be anymore fires! Hurr durr!

Propaganda for now, and to cause a new problem he or a buddy will sell the solution to in the hot season and there are water shortages
1
1
u/ToughMost6122 25d ago
Because farmers need that irrigation later in the season.
He wants to sabotage crop farmers.

I don't know - When you think "who might dump water being saved for times when it might be needed in the future into a hole for no reason?" Don't you kindof think of Trump? It does really have Trump written all over it.
2
u/GoggyMagogger 23d ago
he wants drought. he wants famine. he wants pandemic. he wants complete economic failure.
he seeks to create conditions that will prove lethal for 99% of the world's population because those conditions just make the 1% much much wealthier.
hes a criminal. crimes against humanity.

Because it made him look like he was doing something. People who support him see something happen and it doesn't matter if it's good, bad, or neutral. They just talk to each other about how Trump gets stuff done.
