What's insane is that in the post mortem, he continued the run past the Awakened One, and he went on to beat the heart. Also Awakened One was easily the worst boss to fight, he probably would've beaten Time Eater (and he already beat Donu Deca), so it really was just a 50/50 chance at the end that he lost.

Did he actually beat awakened one in the post mortem or just skip past it? That fight seemed unwinnable

No, he just skipped past it. He was simulating what would happen if he had fought time eater instead, because he likely would’ve beaten time eater.
