I’d recommend going back to Michigan.

Really? I really like the snow tho, honestly one of the main reasons I decided to play this game hahha

Yeahh.. I mean it'll teach you how to play the game more, especially considering you didn't know cargo had to be packed, it might be beneficial. Plus, there are some very good trucks in there

I will take your word for it, to Michigan it is. Thank you for the advice

No problem. Take your time with the game, it definitely isn't the easiest, but it truly teaches you that patience is a virtue.

If you like the snow don’t feel like you have to do ALL of Michigan. I’d prioritize getting the vehicles and upgrades before going to Alaska though, which will get you familiar with the mechanics of the game since Black River especially is set up kinda tutorially. There are good trucks on every Michigan map though. Off the top of my head, there’s the Western White Star on the dam map, Twinsteer on the third map, P16 on the final map. All very useful for different things.

Hmm, I see. In that case I will get a good truck and then head back to Alaska. Thank you for the advice

I love the white western and the p16 but I cannot figure out (yet) when to use the twinsteer.

Twinsteer is a trickier one to handle, but it really shines in regular mode by letting you move four slots of material and then just recover to the garage. It either saves you a second trip with a smaller truck or having to manually haul a trailer back out of wherever you needed to move something. There’s AWD for it in one of the DLCs too, which helps it in terms of capabilities, but I don’t have that and still use it sometimes when I want to just make a trip once and one way and just be done with something. One of the keys to using it though is that you need to get used to manual winching with it so you can swing the back end (or front end, I suppose) around tight corners by winching from a location at the rear of the truck. Can avoid clipping rocks and other shit around tighter corners by doing that.

I bought all 4 year passes (so might have the AWD) And even though I play campaign I try to reset as rare as possible. But hauling 4 slots might come in handy.....

In addition to what others have said, Michigan includes a lot of upgrades to make the trucks you have a lot better, plus the XP needed to level up so you can buy better tires and eventually chained tires for the ice and snow of Alaska

You can jump straight to alaska. I also played this game for the snow. You should play around in Michigan at least a little bit. Get some of the very nice Vehicles they have and get a feel for the missions. But Alaska is honestly almost easier than michigan. Alaska has a lot of actual paved roads, covered in ice so you need chains, but paved roads to get you around.

They really need to beef up on their “messaging” in game.

I spent forever trying to figure out why I couldn’t load up some logs from a place that said they had 2 available.

I agree sooo much. Like I know I am a rookie and all that, but instead of telling me that I should go out of low gear for the hundredth of time, tell me to fucking pack the cargo…

You can disable repeated tool tips in the settings somewhere. So that every advice is only shown once.

Frankly, it's kind of amazing that you managed to drive it all the way there unpacked. Talk about hardcore mode.

On a flat bed no less, not even the sideboard bed

15

u/Whoops_Nevermind Mar 06 '25

I suspect that crane was used alot.

10

u/SettingCommon8315 Mar 06 '25

Actually, not once, I just drove really fucking slow. However the winch got hella abused

u/Whoops_Nevermind Mar 06 '25 edited Mar 06 '25

Haha fair enough. Well you learned the hard way in any case.

5

u/SettingCommon8315 Mar 06 '25

Hahahah yeah. Funny thing, it is my fifth time doing the quest…

1

u/Logical_Thought8677 Mar 06 '25

I managed to do this once but I can't remember the task. Playing on hardcore and I have an OCD about lining the cargo up nice and tidy 😅

Pack Pack Pack!

12

u/real_osuchalke Mar 06 '25

This subreddit is gonna lose his mind once Snowrunner 2 comes with „Deliver without packing” feature.

7

u/squereola Mar 06 '25

I need to start counting this type of post

8

u/SerBittersteel Mar 06 '25

Another day another unpacked load post, it’s kinda wild you made it there without it being packed.

1

u/SettingCommon8315 Mar 06 '25

Haha, my bad. I think the fact that my truck sucks balls helped quite a bit since it is not able to go 5 meters without needing to be winched

2

u/QueenOrial Mar 07 '25

Most trucks fare terribly in mud and snow at least until you unlock better tires and other upgrades such as AWD, diff-lock and raised suspension. You should probably take some scouting before going full on delivering cargo. There are a lot of upgrades spread out in main 3 regions.

1

u/Naxos84 Mar 07 '25

The upgrades really make a huge difference (except for the p16. This is a beast even in Stock Version)

3

u/Wilburn1999 Mar 06 '25

Need to pack your cargo first

2

u/CrossEagle9159 Mar 06 '25

It's not packed

2

u/WAPMOPS Mar 06 '25

Pack it, then you can

2

u/red_uzer43 Mar 06 '25

Sometimes this screen shows up even when your cargo is packed properly

3

u/HurpityDerp Mar 06 '25

Yeah that's the other kind of post we get;

The cargo is packed but it's the wrong cargo 🤣

1

u/Sunekus Mar 07 '25

And sometimes it's the 3rd type, where you have to unload the cargo manually with your crane. But that one is pretty rare. I remember seeing it Yukon and Maine. Not sure if it exists elsewhere.

2

u/Chank241 Mar 06 '25

I'm not sure if the game prompts you if your load is unpacked when you get to the delivery spot. But it should.

2

u/Confident-Tone1201 Mar 06 '25

it doesn't. You're right it should, but I think the game code doesn't recognise the cargo any more until you pack it. Meaning it doesn't know that there is cargo that needs packing. It just sees an empty truck.

6

u/Azeridon Mar 06 '25

The game does recognize there’s cargo there but not packed.

Under truck top left the two red icons indicate cargo in cargo spots that is not packed.

1

u/Confident-Tone1201 Mar 06 '25

Good point, I forgot about those ( and never really bothered checking what those icons meant). I was thinking more about the way unpacked cargo is weightless

1

u/SettingCommon8315 Mar 06 '25

It should indeed

2

u/Cigarety_a_Kava Mar 06 '25

Pack cargo. Next!

2

u/FitOutlandishness133 Mar 06 '25

Yes pack to load, and under task make sure you have activated it

2

u/I3attle_I2ifle Mar 06 '25

Looks like your cargo is unpacked on the truck

2

u/Stunning_Chip_6548 Mar 06 '25

That crane has more play time than I do

2

u/SettingCommon8315 Mar 06 '25 edited Mar 06 '25

FINALLYYYY After hours of hard and useless work, I have done the quest, thank you all for the assistance, I appreciate you all🫡❤️

2

u/foxy-the-hentai-lord Mar 06 '25

Cause ya gotta pack the load on your truck

1

u/Jhe90 Mar 06 '25

Pack your cargo :)

u/TexasGuy1130 Mar 07 '25

It is possible to not bother with chained tires. I completed all of Alaska and never installed chained one time. Apparently, they're absolutely uselsss off iced asphalt, and I didn't care to bother with that.
