Just don’t drop the Tatarin in the water. Like I did…

Oh I've already discovered the hatred for water the tatarin has. It's easy to get overconfident in this beast

Imandra is fun. I had not much issues in it. Btw, fyi, if you dont want to carry that trailer around, you can pack a scout trailer on top of the tatarin.

I know. I'm a bit of a completionist and I'll be needing way more fuel than that.

Imandra has a garage, but it's a pain to unlock it.

Oh really? A little bird once told me if an area has x # of maps, then less than half will have a garage. I'll consider it a bonus.

Hey that's the map I'm on! I've got about 7 hours into it so far. There's a lot of deep ass snow and I found it almost easier to ditch the chain tires and just run with MTs. Haven't had too terrible of a time on ice with em either.

I never once used them in Alaska.

I think Kola Peninsula/Imandra is Russia? But regardless what tires are you using? When I'm on the not so main roads I kept getting stuck in snow with the chain tires.

I've been working my way around Lake Kovd. Found the Tuz 16 to work well as a scout with plenty of fuel with the addon.
It nice to be able to pull trailers without the winch!

I'm doing a 99% American play-through. My 2 exceptions have been the tatarin (because it's so much fun and virtually useless for anything but contests and scouting) and the Tayga. I used that to do the seismic missions in Taymyr because I didn't feel like switching around my fleet to accommodate those few missions. I've since sold it.

Tatarin is not useless. It's absolutely THE beast when unflipping heavy trucks or pulling them thru mud.

I said virtually, not entirely. I use the 745c for those roles you mentioned.

You play however you want, but it'll just add to your burden if you assume some truck lacking at something before trying it out at it. :)

It's not lacking. It has an extremely niche role for which it excels at. I have a very specific reason i do almost everything i do. Almost nothing is "just because." I use the 745c because it can have a fuel tank. And I almost always run out of fuel trying to recover myself before i decide it needs some help.

I use my trucks with very unorthodox ways because each recovery to garage costs 5k. This game is just about getting stuff from A to B and it doesn't care how you accomplish that. Happy trucking!

There are a few times where I wish I had the option to recover on my save…
Lodged the second to rear axle on the derry longhorn between two rocks and broke the physics… took me 2 hours of breaking physics with a crane to get that axle dislodged.

I haven't pulled any of my American trucks out yet. How do they do?
I've been playing pretty close to a region specific version myself.

Have fun! I'm currently 98% through Kola and don't want to repeat the experience. The rocks are one of the most annoying things I can think of in this region.

I feel that. For me so far, it's the crunchy ice you sink halfway into.

Learn how the solid ice looks like either during twilight or during night time- the ice that breaks looks lighter (more pale) and the solid one is darker color. When you know where to drive on ice, that map is not that difficult.

Might I suggest chain tires. :)

u/TexasGuy1130 2d ago
No thanks. I don't like them

Fair enough. There are a couple of slick hills near the garage that will have you winching like Spiderman, but it is definitely doable.

u/TexasGuy1130 2d ago
I've made peace with that. I really only had 2 situations in Alaska where i needed them, but it was manageable and could have been avoided entirely with a different route.

At some point you will need chains in Imandra

u/TexasGuy1130 1d ago
I did run into 2 situations while scouting. Once i managed to winch, scratch and claw my way up. Another, i iust found another route

Sincere condolences to your family. Imandra is the place where you either get hooked to Snowrunner or pray Steam for refund.
