Australian company FOODiQ Global is making history by attempting to grow mushrooms in space for the first time. The groundbreaking experiment is taking place on the Fram2 mission that launched aboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on April 1, 2025.

One step closer to the expanse!

I'll be very interested to see how microgravity affects our fungal friends. I imagine they'll need to keep them contained to prevent spores drifting around everywhere.

I don’t know, growing mushrooms in space could easily be the opening scene in a sci-fi horror movie.
