She had been feeling off for a few weeks and yesterday I found a lot of fresh blood in her stool and she was visibly in pain. I realize now she was probably in pain for the last week too.
I took her to emergency care yesterday and thinking it might be just some food intolerance. It they saw something on her sonogram, the pancreas is « lighter » than it should appear, her stomach was full although she had little to eat that day and her bowels are wavy, not sure what that means? But understood it was not good.
They are considering two options: 1- pancreatis and/or 2- foreign object in her stomach. They could not rule out either so they call in a specialist on Tuesday to do more through imaging.
They gave her intravenous pain medications that should last until we go back Tuesday. They offered to keep her hospitalized until then but I felt she would just despair being away from me as she is completely do codependent. I brought her back with host of meds to give her in the meanwhile.
She spent the night in her travel bag, which she usually hates! She usually sleeps with me.
Can anyone offer me some reassurance on your experience with pancreatitis? Or other causes that happens to your cat with bloody stool?
I’m really anxious…

Do you also take your sphynxies outside on sunny days?

Love this picture, so I wanted to share. Never had cats with fur and always wondered if this is a special sphinx thing. Or are there other races that like to cuddle that much?

This is Kreacher. She’s almost 9 … and has taken to sitting, and holding a paw up randomly, and falling asleep like that. 🤣
The paw is not injured, apparently she just likes to pose. 🤷🏻♂️

Our sphynx kitten has finally settled in! Here is what has happened so far.
We have renamed the kitten to Goose because of our other cats name being maverick however I am concerned as maverick is not very happy, we had to separate them but Goose is very happy and settled quickly, which is good. Goose will not eat the kitten meat(royal canine) but will eat the kitten biscuits(royal canine) so I don't know what meat to try as Goose didn't want to go near it, He might have not fully settled in so that could be why and it just takes time.

Friends ~
I have Trupanion pet insurance and so far so good. Howeveerrrrrr, I’m spending so much out of pocket on exams alone 😩 My wallet is crying 😭
In just 4 weeks I’ve had an urgent care visit and a vet follow-up for both girls after an environmental allergic reaction. I then had 2 separate appointments for one of them with a 3rd recheck this week. The girls are doing just fine now, thankfully 😅
I called Trupanion and they said it’s okay if we pair it with a wellness plan from another carrier. It’s also fine if we even pair it with a plan that also covers accident & illness, we just have to notify them for claim purposes.
What wellness plan would y’all recommend? I’m looking for something that covers the following: • Exams / Vet Visit Cost (Annual, Diagnostic, Recheck)
It would be even better if it also covers: • Preventative HCM Tests • Dental Cleanings
Thanks in advance 🙏🏼

Photo for attention We switched to crystal litter today and it went fine right away. He used his box hours ago and went into the room just a few minutes ago and came out limping. It’s possible he fell off his cat tree or something else. He’s a massive clutz, but I just figured it’s worth asking if anyone else has had issues with crystal litter causing pain for their skinfants. I checked his toes super thoroughly and it doesn’t look like there’s anything stuck up there or any obvious scratches, but he does not want me touching his paw.

It’s my dream to have a Sphynx one day, but if at all possible I’d prefer to rescue/adopt. I have nothing against buying from a reputable breeders, it’s just a personal preference. That said it seems like all the rescues I’ve found require prior breed experience which is understandable but I’m not sure how to truly get experience with the breed without having one. Would volunteering at a Sphynx rescue or something be considered gaining breed experience?

Hi everyone I need some advise. This is Willie I got him in December, he is about 8 months old. He has been doing this cough thing since the night I got him. He went to the vet in January but they said to hold off on testing a little longer to see if it continues. We recently just got another kitty that had signs of a mild URI and Willie seems to have caught it so I took him in this morning to test for the coughing and get URI treatment. They did X-rays, and that's clear of any asthma, but it does show he has an enlarged heart and fluid around his lungs. The vet is saying mild pneumonia most likely. She isn't worried about the enlarged heart at all because in January we did a BNP test on him that looked normal. A quick google search says a normal BNP test does not mean no HCM. My husband has a long list of cardiac issues including CHF so I'm not sure if that's just causing me to over react here or if my concerns are valid. We did a PCR test that'll give a more definitive answer on the URI and that should be back in a few days. They want to see what that says before jumping to an echo. I go pretty out of the way so my cats can go to a cat specific vet and I trust her, but I’m questioning this. Has anyone had a cat with HCM show this coughing behavior?
