CBB Reference Women's March Madness buzzer-beaters added to College Basketball Reference!
There is new information on College Basketball Reference: a comprehensive list of every game-winning buzzer-beater in women's NCAA Tournament history!
Entering the 2025 Final Four, there have been 47 qualifying shots in the history of the women's tournament, with the last one being Ohio State's Jacy Sheldon in a 2023 Round of 32 game against North Carolina.
Here are some tidbits from this dataset...
- Only two players have hit multiple such shots, and they both hit them in back-to-back games: Arike Ogunbowale in the 2018 Final Four and Tasha Butts in the 2004 Regionals (though one of Butts's buzzer-beaters was in fact earned at the free throw line with 0.2 seconds left).
- Tennessee has four buzzer-beating wins, which leads all schools.
- Jordan Nixon's 35 points in a 2021 Round of 32 win over Iowa State are the most points anyone has scored in a game in which they hit a game-winning buzzer-beater. Nixon also authored one of only 10 such shots which left no time left on the clock. It was the only 30-point game of her 82-game college career.
- Five players hit a game-winning buzzer-beater on their only made field goal of the game. However, only Peggy Sells won a game on her first field goal attempt of the game. Alexis Hornbuckle, meanwhile, missed her first seven shots of the game before hitting a game-winning buzzer-beater on her eighth attempt of the game. That's the most makeless misses anyone has had before hitting one of these shots.
- Charlotte Smith's 23 rebounds in the 1994 National Championship Game are the most any player had in a game in which they hit one of these shots.
- Liz Brown's 8 assists in a 1991 Round of 32 win over Michigan State are the most assists.
All these shots are also noted in the box scores of the games in which they happened.

Baseball Reference Baseball WAR for the 2025 season is live
r/sportsreference • u/thedeejus • 2d ago
Baseball Reference Feature request: put a column with ordered "Rk" numbers on the left side of tables when sorting so we can count how many times something has happened
For example, say I want to know how many 30-homer seasons Mike Schmidt has had. I can sort by HR descending, but then I need to manually count how many. It would be great if there were just a static ranking column with 1, 2, 3, etc. along the left side so I could easily see he had 13.
It would also be nice in the season pages so we could count how many guys hit 30 hr in a season, struck out 200, etc.

Can’t download from FB reference
Hey, I’m having trouble finding the option to download data from fb reference. I see the options on the other reference pages but not for fb. Wondering if this is me or a bigger issue. Thanks!

Pro Football Reference Not a fan of the “🏆 _x Participant” - I understand that even making it to a professional league is a tremendous accomplishment, it’s just not really an award, right? And even if it’s non negotiable to remove I just don’t get why it’s so big on a players page in that it blocks other REAL awards.

Johni Broome Nickname
I would like to petition to add the nickname of "Big Sassy" to Johni Broome's page. I have it on good authority that he is widely known by that nickname inside certain circles. Thank you and goodnight.

Basketball Reference New Nickname for James Harden
I need “Saint James” to be added as new nickname for Clippers star James Harden. It’s populated by Clippers commentator Brian Sieman in multiple occasions and it’s extremely popular within Clippers sub and twitter.
The classic commentaries include “gospel hour” “Saint James preaching” etc.
Thank you!

Any baseball datasets that identify race?
Hey all. I'm a college student working on an empirical project designed to determine whether MLB umpires show any biases when calling balls/strikes against white and nonwhite players. Are there any (preferably free) datasets out there that have a race variable? Any information helps.

Motor Reference?
I wanted a version of basketball-reference but for formula 1 and motorsports. Is there such a thing? I could help with data population ofc, but not sure how to create a sport-reference style page and there might be a more official way than just copying the design and whatnot.

CBB Reference Help figuring out all-time wins for college basketball players
Hi, all!
I'm trying to figure out who in college basketball holds the record for all-time winningest player
I've gone to the career game logs for each of the top three players right now (RJ Davis, Dajuan Harris, and J'Wan Roberts) and it seems like not all info is present in order to definitively get the answer. It seems /sportsreference does not add tournament game to a player's career game log which makes the total numbers not right, and on top of that it seems not all the games are updated with the most recent Win/Loss
Thanks and appreciate any help!
