Questions/Advice Swansea youth is a plague.

I can’t even take my children to McDonald’s anymore because of the teenagers that swear and throw food. I can’t take them to the local park because they’ve burnt all the climbing frames.

Went to the cinema yesterday to watch the Minecraft movie (anyone else?) and it was filled with 12-15 year olds as expected all through the trailers they screamed and made silly noises.

The movie was much much worse though, throwing drinks, pop corn and screaming and clapping every 5-10 seconds and quoting parts of the movie before it was said.

I took my son to see it and it was my 1 year olds birthday, I only plan the cinema during her nap times not to disturb anyone but the amount of screaming and clapping had her in tears all through the movie so I had to spend a lot of it in the corridor. Lots of people walked out.

At the end when the lights came back on there was monster cans tipped all over the floor that had run down by peoples feet, food and rubbish just absolutely everywhere.

I go to a tiny local shop most mornings to pick up small things and now they have the employees guard the doors and isles because of the amount of school children who come in and just take without paying.

I’d never do anything like this as a child. What is going on with today’s youth? I don’t get it.

Questions/Advice Please help! Electric system for heating and hot water

Hi everyone. Do you know if an electric system for heating and hot water is any good in a rented flat? Does it work properly to provide heating and hot water? how fast is it? and how expensive would it be (in terms of the electric bill) compared to gas? I really appreciate your help with this because I'm completely lost and don't know what to do. Thank you so much

Questions/Advice Kitesurfing viability in Swansea?

I've been looking at getting in to kiteboarding but I didn't want to pay for lessons and gear only to find out the wind speed in Swansea isn't strong enough most of the time.

I've messaged 2 kitesurfing schools but not had a response and I've looked online but I can only get the average wind speed per month which doesn't really help as some days are stronger than others.

Any kitesurfers here that can give me some indication as to how often wind is good enough (either in Swansea Bay, Langland but also places like Llangennith). Is there weather good enough 5 or 6 times a month or is it like once a month it gets windy enough?

Thanks

Questions/Advice Does anyone know if Reyhan on Walter Road is still open?

Off out on Saturday for food and some drinks, was going to suggest the old tapas place on Walter Road but that’s gone, saw this next to the St George on Google Maps and the menu looks decent, but not sure if it’s shut as nobody has answered the phone.

I’m guessing it’s closed but if anyone knows otherwise? If anyone has any other recommendations for somewhere to eat, happy to hear them. Been to all the usual places, but if there’s something new then happy to give it a try. Cheers 👍🏻

Questions/Advice Parking for residents

Hi All,

I am moving to Swansea with my partner in August. We are looking at long term renting a property which is within reasonable walking distance to the university for his graduate course. Looking online I’m seeing a lot of properties with “on street parking” or “on street parking permit”…This concerns me as I would worry I wouldn’t get a space. Is this a reasonable concern? How do residents deal with this? Thank you very much. I’m excited to in the community!

Other (Editable) Brutalist Architecture in and around Swansea.

There are many buildings within the city and some may fall under the category of Brutalist Architecture and one such would be the civic centre.

Which buildings in and around Swansea would you consider to be of the brutalist type?

For me I'd say singleton hospital before it was covered in cladding and had it's balconies removed. Circa 2011

Questions/Advice Relocating to Swansea

Hi everyone!

I'm looking to relocate to Swansea soon as I got a job offer at Swansea University (Singleton Campus). Could you kindly suggest good areas to rent accommodation? I've been told Pentrechwyth is close to the university but I'm not sure if it's a good area to live in. I'm specifically looking for a place that's safe and is relatively close to transport links. Thanks!!
