David needs to stop saying the reason our government, MAGA and a large part of the population is ignorant to a lot of basic facts and other things like not knowing the difference between Oliver Stone and Roger Stone is the fault of the education system. The education system is there with teachers ready and willing to do the job. The problem is the culture relating to the importance of education. Parents are far more interested in looking at their phones, concerning themselves with youth sports, ice fishing, four wheeling, owning $80,000 pickup trucks than their kids education. It's the culture not the system. Additionally, the behaviors that teachers deal with as well as having to take over the social development of kids is way out of whack. Teachers are practically raising these kids. Kindergarten age students are showing up with no number sense and staggering low level vocabulary. Start placing the blame where it belongs. You can bring a horse to water.

I'm not sure where else to post this, and I come here because I know a lot of David's fans are extremely smart and thoughtful. I've been seeing this all over the internet. This anti-government commentary at every turn. And seeing it on this product page for a vegan product that 0.1% of people even know exists, was so jarring. I've been trying to live a pure hyper-local, community based life and steer my action and focus to that local level, for my own mental health, and yet I found it there too. This is a little disheartening. I don't know if this is fixable at even a small scale. Anyway, I don't know what else to say. Just writing it out is helping me today. Have a nice day.

Cruising the comments in /Republican, they’re saying the abuse of tariffs are not what they voted for and they know they will get creamed in the midterms if this mess doesn’t turn around.

I think one very overlooked aspect of the Trump's tariff chaos is that even before the trade war was started, Trump's cabinet had already managed to destroy relationships with all of its most important allies and trading partners.
I live in Finland and we used to have very good and positive view of America and products made there and there was mostly no reason not to buy them. Now there has been complete turn-around. We are starting to see wide boycotts of American products in Europe (and of course also in Canada). People are cancelling subscriptions to services and buying products elsewhere when possible. As a personal anecdote; in all my circles people have started to avoid American companies even before tariffs were announced. Trump has not even personally insulted or threatened us (like Canada, Denmark and so on).
The general view of USA is going in the same direction as Russia, which is shocking. All polls are showing that USA is viewed more and more as a necessary partner than as an ally. The trade war will make it even worse when all prices will hike.
Canada announced that they will start to search trading partners from elsewhere. In Europe there has now been a lot of talk to find new trading partners from Asia to replace USA. If there is a major shift in trade away from USA it cannot be simply fixed by a change in administration and removal of Trump's tariffs. The damage has already been done.

A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a man immigration officials say they deported to an El Salvador prison in error, back to the U.S.
U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis said Friday that Abrego Garcia must be returned from El Salvador by April 7. People clapped in the courtroom when she read the short order.
