Photo(s) I turned my back for like 2 minutes…
And yes he attempted to enter the pot 3 more times while he was out there….I have since moved said pot.

Here is Tortellini’s new condo. I made it bio-active with springtails and a drainage layer. I will also get some bigger rocks for his sun deck.

Finally moved from a flat to a house with a big outside garden, he now gets to enjoy the eternal sunshine.
(Yes I know his shell is deformed, we rescued him with MBD and two broken legs, it has rounded off since we got him)

It's not realy great picture but if you zoom close then you can see it. It doesn't seem swollen but his other eye is whole black. Should I be concerned?

I let him go on the side he was headed to! He was not happy I picked him up. Just wanted to know what type he is.

It’s that time of year in Minnesota when things are getting green and the sun actually works. My dellemia is that I have two young torties that are perfect nugget size for the bigger raptors in our area. I’m always out there with them, but they are totally opposite in their exploration habits.
Gingko is happy to be a bit slower and cautious… and eating everything. But when they want to go- they GO!
Fern (you maybe recall they’re my cleft palate cutie) is my walker… just go go go all the time..
So what are your strategies to keeps your torts safe from predators when there isn’t any natural cover yet so the areas are wide open.
(Pics FYP 😋 Gingko is chowing down on grass and Fern is in the leaves)

My baby. Never owned a tortoise 🐢 before. In love. He is a fiend for the weeds. Loving lambslettuce, dandelion, tiny pieces of cucumber. Hating baths, and the expensive dried flowers tortoise mix I bought.
My kids made a bodyguard triangle around him in the garden to defend from our cats (who are mildly interested, hence the wire over the tortoise table). Had his first 10 minute try outside today.

After MANY many many rejected vegetables and leafy greens, it turns out she's an absolute FIEND for strawberries. I offered her the caps to a few (didn't want to give her a ton, my understanding is that fruit in large quantities isn't good for them) and she tried climbing up into my lap to look for more when she was finished.

I am thinking about adopting a Sulcata tortoise. But before I do I want to know way more than what I know already about them. What are the best enclosures? The best food to feed. Everything I need to be able to give it the best life. I want to have everything it could need at home before I even bring it home. If I get one it will be like one in the picture(size and everything). The lady says they are about a year old now. So if you have any advice please let me know!!

My boyfriend's mum is travelling so we are looking after her tortoise, but I'm not sure what kind of tortoise he is. He has spurs on the back of his thighs. I was thinking potentially a greek tortoise, but my boyfriend disagrees and thinks he doesn't look like one.
I want to give him the best care possible while he's with us so any help would be appreciated!

Breakfast hits different when it’s served to you on a rock platter. 🐢 is inside because it was too cold to go out first thing this morning.

Hi all
do you guys have a bioactive tortoise enclosure? what's the experience like ? did it minimize your workload when it comes to cleaning up? most importantly, do you find it sustainable?
Thank you all. This community has been a supportive one.

Hello! This is my table for my baby Herman’s tortoise. We use the solar glo lamp a couple hours a day and then replace it with the infrared basking spot for the rest of the day. Andy recommendations?
