AskTrees What is this?

Post image

My coworker got this from a customer that he said is “sketchy at best” and wanted my second opinion on it. I told him it was probably a male plant (not completely sure) and I personally wouldn’t smoke it if I wasn’t sure whether or not it’s laced with something. He ended up stopping by my house so I could see it in person. It looks worse in person, it kinda just crumbles apart when you pick it up and it smells minty (which is the part that’s completely throwing me off). Neither of us are gonna smoke it but I was just curious if this is even weed due to the minty smell

That’s all the sugar leaves off the nugs. You could probably smoke this entire bag and barely feel a head change

After taking a closer look, this literally just looks like leaf trimmings

Sugar leaves back when I was young and innocent were actually pretty good bang for the buck. Did the job and It was 5 bucks for a baggie stuffed completely full. If you have any real tolerance built up it's useless but if OP couldn't tell what it was just from looking, it might be right up their alley

Those most definitely are not sugar leaves. They're just leaves.

Any idea why it smells minty? Like there’s literally not even a hint of weed just a slight mint smell

I’m honestly just as baffled as you. Let me talk to my grower and I’ll get back to ya

Flashback to whiskey weed

After consulting my dude, he said it’s likely an outside grow that had some environmental influence. I personally wouldn’t touch it, but you do you big dawg! Stay safe out there

I personally wouldnt throw away weed just because its trim. It still has some (nonzero) thc.

I run a grow in CO.

The mint smell is interesting. We've gone through 160 strains in 5 years and only one smelled truly like a menthol. It could just actually be higher in ocimene or eucalyptol/cineole depending on what kind of mint you're smelling.

This is 100% just the trim. This is what we sell that people will turn into wax, shatter, rosin, or edibles.

Wax and shatter: essentially douse it with butane. Catch the liquid at the bottom, that's now concentrated THC. Do it outside, don't light a match or you'll blow yourself up.

Rosin: put it in a sock, put sock in ice water, shake tf out of it, scoop out the trichomes, roll it in a ball (you now have bubble hash), squeeze that between a hair straightener. That's now solventless concentrated THC.

Edibles: throw it in a crock pot with a couple sticks of butter. Give it a couple hours, filter out the plant material, you now have cannabutter that can go on anything. (DO NOT MAKE PUPPY CHOW!! It's a vicious cycle where you just keep eating more puppy chow and getting higher and higher).

I can't say I'd recommend smoking it, but there's other ways you can utilize what you have!

That's the answer we didn't even know we needed. Fuck yeah!

Lol glad I could help. Feel free to ask any other questions.

I did read a few years ago something about slowly incorporating water into the crock pot somehow, it helps with removing the taste of plant material from the cannabutter. But I didn't read that until I'd been in the legal industry (and therefore employee discounts on edibles) for a few years, so I haven't personally done that part.

That would be catnip, if you have cats they’ll love you for it:

tbh ive had weed that smelled all sorts of ways. Doesnt necessarily mean its 'laced.'

It could be leaves from a plant that isn’t weed? Idk

Have you considered that it might be mint
