If the date in this post's title seems old, look for the newest thread here.

Use this thread for general advice and to ask Tressless members what they think of your hairline photos and treatment options.

Remember, If you want good advice, post good photos: high resolution, multiple angles, good lighting, both wet and dry.

Mention what changes you've seen. Some people have naturally thin hair.

It's vital to take identical photos every few months. Remember that consistent lighting is extremely important.

Age and family history are worth mentioning.

Just starting out?

  1. Read the beginner's guide

I have been on finasteride for a little over a year now. I have had major regrowth with no side effects and could not be happier. The hairloss I experienced was in my temple area but that has been mostly regrown now. The first pic is my starting picture at my worst. The rest are more recent.

Treatment Pyrilutamide / KX-826 / Koshine ā€” has it been working for you?

ā€¢ Upvotes

If youā€™ve been taking Pyrilutamide / KX-826 / Koshine for long enough to be able to say whether it works (or doesnā€™t), Iā€™d love to hear from you.

As this product seems to have gained traction relatively recently, most responses in other threads are from people who had only been taking it for a short while ā€” most less than 4 months, hardly anyone for more than 8-9 months. Plus, many of the responses were from people who had also started other things in their stack around the same time as well.

What I would love to hear is if youā€™ve otherwise had a stable stack for some time, and you added *ONLY** pyrilutamide / KX-826, AND youā€™ve been using it long enough now (anyone >1 year?)* to really be able to say whether it made a long-term difference on its own.

That would be amazing, amazing info.
Thanks so much for everyoneā€™s story!

Microneedling Why would microneedle pen depth matter after a certain point?

This may come across as a dumb question which I don't mind but for example, if I use a 1.5mm depth or a 2mm depth, why would it be any different? With 1.5mm, it is sticking far out already, and all I am doing is gliding it across my scalp. So if I stick it out a little more at 2mm, I'm doing the exact same thing at the exact same speed. Hypothetically, just to try to illustrate the point, if I used a depth of 5mm or 7mm why would it be any different? It's not like I am injecting 5mm all the way into my scalp. The mechanism of gliding it is exactly the same.

I get this is probably a dumb question but I'm just trying to understand. I can see how it would make a difference if you were using 0.25mm vs 1.5mm but not sure why it would matter if it's 1.5mm or 2.5mm.

Not that it should matter but I use the korabeuticals v2. I imagine the speed you set would be a much more relevant factor.

Finasteride/Dutasteride What should be my starting dosage for Finasteride?

I've been on topical minoxidil (twice a day) for about 6 months and I am going to be starting finasteride soon. I am trying to avoid an aggressive shed so thinking of starting at a very low dosage and gradually working my way up. Like starting from 0.25mg, 3-4 days a week for a couple months, then 0.5mg 3-4 days a week to every day of the week and then making my way up to 1mg/day. Will this help with reducing sudden shed or should I just start with 0.5mg/1mg per day?

With minoxidil, I had a somewhat aggressive shed which lasted for about 2-3 months. I don't know how much of it grew back but it did make my hair noticeably thicker.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Minoxidil Does Tretionin make minoxidil work better?

I've tried topical min 5 mg before, but after six months, I saw no results. I've been thinking about trying again, this time with tretinoin, but do studies actually show that it makes minoxidil work better? From what I've read, it does not.

Finasteride/Dutasteride Improving the effects of finasteride topic

Hello everyone, for 8 months I have been on finasteride topic 0.1% and I have had some encouraging results on hair loss. A little regrowth, but not enough to go out without a cap.. I would like to have your opinion, for the moment I use minoxidil 5% + finasteride 0.1% in the morning and in the evening minoxidil + tretinoin.

In your opinion, to improve my situation I should:

-Take minox + finasteride twice a day morning and evening.

-increase finasteride to 0.2%

-Use dutasteride once a day, with or without finasteride. Or maybe only two days a week because the half-life is longer.

THX

Minoxidil No shedding and no heart palpitations on oral minoxidil

I began taking 5mg oral minoxidil 3 months ago and Iā€™m 22 years old experiencing very slight recession on the temples. So far I experienced significant hair growth on both the temples as well as other parts of my body where hair grows.

Iā€™m wondering if the complete absence of shedding and heart palpitations means that the drug will suddenly make things worse?

P.S: Iā€™m not using anything else alongside oral minoxidil.

Finasteride/Dutasteride About what percent of Finasteride mixed w Minoxidil is the tipping point for going systemic?

ā€¢ Upvotes

Simple question: About what percent of Finasteride mixed w Minoxidil (topical) is the tipping point for going systemic?

Speaking for myself, I'm putting 3x5mg blue Fin tabs into a 60ml Min bottle which makes for .025% (1ml Min topical application per day = .25mg Fin daily)

Minoxidil I now have super thick thick hair, and I'm just using Minoxidil for maintenance - question about the applicator

ā€¢ Upvotes

Do you think that if the applicator touches your scalp and then you put it back in the bottle it contaminates the product and makes it less effective? Because I have a method of application that I really like. I part my hair and I dot the applicator across the length of the part to dispense droplets of products and to also stimulate the circulation by tapping. Then I section another area, and I do the same thing on the other part. Kind of similar to when you apply hair color. Do you have a method of application that you prefer? I just don't want to contaminate the product

A friend of mine has a different method of application. She tilts her head back and dispenses a few drops with the pipette making sure she is inclined/tilted back, so the Minoxidil runs over her head. She then tilts the head to the left and to the right and then starts massaging with her fingertips. This way, she ensures full coverage of the surface.

Hi, Iā€™ve been taking oral finasteride and minoxidil for the past 8 weeks and Iā€™ve forgot to take my medication with me when I went away for the weekend. Iā€™ve been shedding lots to and look like a diffuse thinner at the minute. Will missing the doses have a significant impact on my hair.

Finasteride/Dutasteride For Fin Users who started treatment during a time of increased hairfall, how long before hairfall stopped?

Iā€™ve been on fin 1mg everyday since February after switching from 0.5mg everyday (started in October).

Shedding isnā€™t horrible but I know that the increased hairfall from hairline isnā€™t normal and wondering how long is lasted for others.

Transplants For those that have hair transplant

Iā€™ve been browsing through this Reddit community and saw a lot of wonderful posts.

Iā€™m curious what the donor site where the hair was harvested from looks like four months a year down the road.

For context, the reason I am asking is because I normally get either a #.5 clip or #1 clip fade on the back of my head and Iā€™m wondering what it would look like a year after hair transplant. Any pictures or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Transplants Hair transplant grow back, or Finasteride & Minoxidil help?

Hi all,

I got a hair transplant 4 months ago. I also started using Finasteride (oral: .626mg), Minoxidil (oral: 2.5mg, topical: 5 ml once a day), and microneedling once a week.

I see some growth already, some thick, some baby hair. However, I am unsure if it is HT hair or if my hair is growing back because of Fin & Min.

Any opinions?
