Tariffs are good unless they’re being utilized by Donald Trump. President Donald Trump.

This was when he was still actually an independent and fought for the working class …. Sadly he thru the towel in 10 years later

I was a big Bernie fan when he was laser focused on min wage increases, free basic health care, free basic college (like community level 5,000 a year cost - not feds paying for 60k nyu liberal arts degrees)

Probably - Bernie’s a good or was convincing speaker before he turned into a old crazy angry guy

If Trump announced his support for planned parenthood, they’d be burning them tomorrow.

Warren Buffett proposed a trade-balancing plan using Import Certificates (ICs) to address the U.S. trade deficit. Exporters would earn ICs equal to the value of their exports, which importers would need to purchase to bring goods into the U.S. While Buffett acknowledged drawbacks like higher consumer prices, his plan avoided targeting specific countries or industries, reducing the risk of trade wars and fostering trust in U.S. commitments.

Contrast this with Trump’s tariff-heavy approach, which alienated allies, provoked retaliation, and disrupted global supply chains. Worse, it signaled to the world that the U.S. might not honor trade agreements, prompting countries to seek alternatives. This erosion of trust mirrors the fallout from the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930, which deepened the Great Depression by collapsing global trade.

If history repeats itself, such policies could lead to a global recession or depression as nations diversify away from U.S. markets. Buffett’s plan may not be perfect, but at least it didn’t gamble with America’s credibility or risk isolating it on the world stage.
