Yeah, that's fucked up but what can you do about it? If you do not agree with how you were or are being parented but you are not being abused, the best thing to do is leave her home and get busy creating a life for yourself when you turn 18. It is all you can do.

Are you a teen? If so get a job and do as many extracurricular activities as you can. When you're not training for sports or in school clubs, study and get the best grades you can so you can get scholarships. If you don't want to go to college do the same things but enroll in trade school of some sort mechanic, cosmetology and barbering, construction, electrician etc. but make plans to get out as soon as possible and don't look back...well maybe look back to help your siblings.

For Black Men in the US, what’s it like being around white people in public?
 in  r/blackmen  21h ago

What do you do about it? I know you have to go on with your life, but when confronted or you hear people making openly racist comments how do you respond and how do you feel about your response?

You can probably tell I'm a Black woman but I'm only asking because I'm at a loss. I was in Costco during the pandemic in a mostly white city, Concord, CA. I had business there, so I decided to stop at that store before going home. As I was shopping, a white asshole came over to a Costco employee very close to me and started going on a tirade about too many "other people" are coming to "their" Costco and what was Costco going to do about it? I had a similar experience at a Walmart in Pleasanton, CA years later. I did not respond because I feel it was pointless, I will shop wherever I want and I believe he was looking for a reason to confront me, a single Black woman with a child, and potentially become violent. What do you think, how should we handle these situations?

Constantly fighting and standing up for yourself is exhausting, trying to ignore things that you know are wrong is also exhausting. I don't know what we should do.

I'm a Black woman attending college as an adult at prestigious university. It has a mainly white and asian student body and a mostly white faculty. I recognize that this has been a wonderful opportunity that was robbed of me by my Black father when I young, but some of the faculty are extremely racist and make racist comments, the white and asian students make racist comments openly and if you say something to oppose them you are alone. This has been my experience as an adult. I worry for our bright Black children that leave home for the first time and are affronted with this kind of treatment. College is hard enough, it is partially a mind game but also a lot of work, to add racism only compounds the problem of staying in school and graduating.

Some Black students do not care about this, they want to assimilate so badly they will not even look you in the face when walking by, they will not acknowledge another Black person and will gaslight you if make comments against the racism. They will be laughing and talking without a care in the world all up under the whites and asians.

When I speak to others about this they say just ignore it because racism is everywhere. Brothers, what do you think about this?

Boycott toxic media

The Entire Zeus Network and the Power Franchise

POWER (original) Portrays the Black man as a lying, philandering, psychopathic criminal with no humanity or redeeming qualities. Even as FINE as Omari Hardwick is by the middle of the series, he was hideous to me (chalk it up to his excellent acting his character was an extreme villain). The Black woman was portrayed as an equally psychopathic, money hungry whore. Children killed and corrupted - no problem.

Power Book II was more of the same; psychopathic drug dealers willing to become murderous criminals for cars, basic homes and European clothes. These shows make us all look bad. This is racial propaganda worse than any minstrel show chalk full of racial stereotypes that affect us in the real world.

But I think Power Book III Raising Kanan may be the worst offender, again a psychopathic, murderous drug dealing mother who corrupts her son by making him shoot his own father and helps him sell drugs. According to this show, our children are not children, imprisoning them and killing them is no big deal because they are animals. Like I said this show is TOXIC and should be boycotted. The streets don't need any more bodies, and we need to free our minds from this kind of media.

Social media makes me feel worthless

If you start to feel worthless because of the curated images you see on social media, have you ever considered logging off and using the time and energy you would online doing something to improve yourself or your circumstances? Just a thought...
