My favorite is loading Doc up with Sodium Penthahol for the sole purpose of having him admit he's a prick on camera. That's the kind of petty hate that only the Mighty Monarch can have.

The best part is that it's a viable plan with a high success rate.

"12 hours of deafening faith hill music (make sure he hates it first)" is my favorite, next to "drive to bad neighborhood and scream racial epithets."

I like how it doesn't specify leaving venture behind to get blamed for it, so now I can only imagine the monarch doing it and driving off with people shouting and shooting at him only for the view of him driving after he's gotten away to pan out and show Dr.Venture in the back seat asking "um, how was that supposed to be torture for ME exactly?"

The Pear of Anguish is a real thing, btw.

And it's horrifying.

Apparently Malcolm isn’t aware of it which makes it all the funnier. I’d love to see him introduce it then 21 or Venture correct him.

Real thing only in that there are physical objects that meet the description.

However there is no evidence that they were actually historically used as torture devices. They were likely part of a larger sensationalized effort by 19th century con artists who invented new torture devices, pretending they were medieval implements to sell tickets to marks. The Iron Maiden is another such device.

So who's going to add this reference to it?

Hence, the con.

Him putting "(is it safe?)" was actually very sweet.

I’m guessing you never watched or read Marathon Man. That’s…not what that means.

u/miikro 1d ago

Or even Clerks: The Animated Series

u/FenrirHere 1d ago

I've never watched! Is it a reference? I understood the initial bit as a reference to the movie but i thought that he was concerned about potentially maiming Dr. Venture in a way that would get in the way of him continuing to be able to arch him.

Nope, I can understand interpreting it that way but it is definitely a reference. Marathon Man is a great book by William Goldman (author of The Princess Bride) and was a movie with Dustin Hoffman in the 70s. Without spoiling too much, a dentist drill is used in a very sadistic way by a former Nazi, and the question “Is it safe?” is what he keeps asking his captive. Meaning, is it safe for him to get his cache of diamonds. Safety for the person being drilled isn’t really what’s on his mind.

Thank you for explaining the context!

No problem!

With how doc treats his colored playmates as a kid, the racial slurs is something he probably vibe with.

Again who is truly the villain here in this relationship?

2

u/writenicely 13h ago

Doc is ignorant, he's not a scumbag though. I wouldn't catch Rusty actually doing that.

2

u/Afraid-Pressure-3646 13h ago

Picking up Mexicans at Home Depot for 50 bucks.

Plus when he asked his dad to adopt the brown Indian kid to go along with his adventure and completely forget about him as an adult.

3

u/writenicely 12h ago

Sounds like he's a definite narcissist. I still think thats less of him being the variant of racist whose comfy saying the n-word and more of him being a self-centered ass. (PS I'm Indian and also I thought it was severely fucked up that he just let go of an employee who was a long time worker who was an elderly black man)

What, no acids or magnets?

#4 has serious Die Hard vibes.

u/O8ee 1d ago

Deafening Faith Hill music would be a winner

5

u/Adamusprime1230 1d ago

Well number 14 could be solved by putting Rusty in a coffin fitted with a night vision camera and little holes so the Monarch can gas Rusty with certain gas to torment him or just make sure Rusty doesn't die cause of lack of air.

4

u/Typical-Impress-6413 1d ago

Not a bad idea, it would allow him to control the amount of oxygen he would be receiving and once he decides he's done he can just shut off the oxygen. Otherwise it would have the same con as exposure.

u/NightWolfRose 23h ago

Like in Deadpool- that’s an effed up torture.

What wedding?

3

u/GoreyGopnik 1d ago

I think the burying alive would work if the coffin was made of one-way mirrors so you could watch him without him feeling less claustrophobic

2

u/The-Fat-Matt Little Cocktail Rifles 1d ago

(Make him admit he's a prick on camera)
