Question I have doubts about the floaters thing

So I saw comments here saying that vss floaters are not actually floaters. Now I have 2 to 3 big black floaties in each eye and they are definitely real, ie they have momentum and carry on with moving even i stop moving my eyes. Is this really vss then

People can have floaters without having VSS, they’re completely separate things. However, a lot of people with VSS DO notice that they have increased floaters. I think it’s because of the fact that our brains can’t filter out visual stimuli normally, so we always see everything that’s there. Someone without VSS probably wouldn’t notice if they had the same amount of floaters.

While absolutely not proven whatsoever, there's a large chance VSS not only allows you to see more from higher sensitivity/broken filter, but may also create more too. Seems the electrophysiology of the retina is slightly off in peeps with VSS. I don't see why the eyes couldn't react to VSS or have our bodies try to fix it by shedding more or some other mechanism.

One of the main reasons I say this is personal exp. I had no floaters when I got VSS, and trust me it was baaaaaaad. Took a few months and now I have a hundred or so all the time.

Interesting, never heard of this idea before! I agree, it was after VSS that I developed a ton of floaters

People in the VSS reddit seem to frequently use the term “floater” to mean transient dots of colors. Floaters elsewhere, including the floaters reddit, typically means the gelatinous dark blobs that don’t go away, and can swirl around - vitreous opacities. They are different things. Also there is no “filtering out” of the large dirty blob floaters - people don’t normally have such large floaters.

My floaters are actually floaters. My neuro-ophtalmologist confirmed my vitreous wasn't too clean and she could see them. So, in my case, those are real floaters.
