Question Anyone had this?

Sometimes I experience mild flashes of light whenever I try to close my eyes or fall asleep does anyone even experience this? It's like a white flash but not as bright at it is. Appears in just a matter of few milliseconds.

I had this once upon a time. Not sure why it went away. Also at the same time it was kinda painful and like I couldn’t fully close my eyes.

The pain in the eye is not what I have. It's not i called it severe when having this but I'm just worried or overreacting because never had this before. Anyways when you sleep do you turn off your lights?

Back when that was happening, I think I was.

What do you sleep with, lights or not? For many years I slept with the closet light on but have recently tried to sleep in the dark with my tiny alarm clock light.

I sleep in a total darkness lol. Back then I used to sleep with lights on but it's more relaxing to me now sleeping with lights off.

Yea I get that here and that. It is what is it. For me it’s Probably from intracranial hypertension.

Are yours frequent? Or sometimes you had it or not. intracranial Hypertension sounds scary :<

Some weeks or days are frequent, then can go a while without white flashes. It’s not too bad once you understand your cause, sure it causes a lot of debilitating symptoms once it’s chronic.

Best of luck, all my brain scans were pretty normal. My cause is in the neck. Where venous outflow is severely compressed causing pressure in my head, causing all my symptoms.

How do you manage yours btw. Any advice? Or some good routine.

I know mine is from severe compression of my IJVs and nerves in my neck. But I sleep on my most compressed internal jugular vein, so the one that is doing all the work isn’t getting as compressed because if I sleep on the least compressed jugular, now I have two jugulars that are compressed without another option for venous outflow from my head.

Sleeping on a softer pillow and having positioning helps, along with foods lower in sodium so I don’t increase inflammation in my body.

How are you now? When doing those you mentioned does it improve your symptoms?... I guess there's a bigger possibility that I have neck issue too because i feel pain in my neck but it's bearable that comes and go. Also i feel my shoulder is something heavy or tired because I sit on a computer 8 hours a day for my work. I'm having bad sleeping position these past few weeks also and I almost forgot I feel this weird pulse at the back of my head but no pain it's super close to the neck maybe this needs to be check also. Super thanks for your insights I need to work on to my sleeping position and get some softer pillows.

Some days are better than others, sometimes I move in my sleep and then the next day it’s t great. Today I laid down for most of it, and I have a lot of head pressure and all other issues.

I generally didn’t have neck issues, sometimes here and there my throat would be irritated. It’s only more recent that I feel my throat and neck area on days I’m worse, and because styloids are poking and irritating everything around them.

Yea today I started with pressure in the back of my head but not pain. Now later in the day, I have headache near my left temple and eye.

Definitely worth checking out, if you can get imaging of your head and neck. Just to rule out any issues and even if you can prevent whatever is going on before it gets worse.

No worries, best of luck!

I get white, purple and white flashes, sometimes it travels from one side to the other and disappears out of view, they will keep going even if I open my eyes
