I’m currently trying to lose some weight. I’ve been lazy (depressed) and spent most days in bed reading books. I decided enough was enough so I’ve started walking 3 miles a day which takes me 1 hour.. would this be enough to change things?

Walking has worked wonders for my mental health and I’m forever grateful. 🤍 I’m also 30 pounds down (minimum 10k steps daily combined with healthy eating on a calorie deficit)
This is funny because that’s probably what I looked like all bundled up while walking in my boots. 🇨🇦

F28 have been struggling to stay consistent for quite some time, been feeling really low lately and finally, i’ve been pushing myself and able to break my cycle.
i’m so happy that i can say i feel proud with how much i’ve been moving my body this week.
the goal is 10k steps minimum + 30 min at home workout and hoping to see some improvements within myself!
The goal will be to do this everyday. I already feel so much better

I have no sense of direction in life. I live in the United States which I consider to be a privilege because I can save dollars that go a long way in other countries. I want to sell everything that I own and to embark in a journey of spiritual contemplation punctuated by dozens of miles of walking each day. I just want to walk for dozens of miles each day, accumulating the miles without any particular destination in mind until I run out of money.
I’ve tried proper running/walking shoes, even hiking shoes + socks, but i’m still getting awful blisters at about every two weeks, and i’d like a more permanent solution than wasting a truck load of bandaids taping up my toes.

Finally got myself outside for a good long walk to get myself out of a little downward spiral I was in, felt good to get moving again and clear my head

For the last couple of weeks, I have been walking a minimum of 10,000 steps per day at least five or six days a week. Obviously some days my body needs a break. But I find on the days that I do take a break, I feel very anxious, and essentially the anxiety continues until I walk. Any tips how I can overcome this?

Did a charity walk yesterday. My first 30km (~18,64 miles) ever! Now I'm exhausted but more than proud of myself. It was great to walk with other people and not all by myself.
Everyone from our Group finished. Age between 29 to 60+.

Sine becoming sober at 3 months ago…walking on the treadmill daily has become my therapy. It’s more for my mental health. I walk for an hour every day using the “leg sculpt” or “leg sculpt plus “ at 3.0 speed. The problem is I think I’m losing too much. I want to maintain the weight I’m at…but I want to continue my daily walks.. how???

30lb weight in my backpack.
Good long walk in the forest is a great way to lift up mood. I’m very lucky because there’s this forest nearby where I get to walk almost every day.
at the moment I am just using my iphone in my trouser pocket to keep a track of my daily step count (using the health app).
Can anyone recommend a better piece of equipment, either a watch or pedometer/something else maybe to clip onto my waistband to keep me upto date with my steps ?
I don’t need loads of extra things, just the accuracy of my step count.
Thanks for any advice

On this day of action, walking down to Boston for a training walk, joining those who pass the empathy test. For those who fail, I walk for you. Just walkie, no talkie. I'm up to 25 miles a day, have the vacation time, hoping to make it from Boston to DC in about 3 weeks. This is the Walk of Shame, a non political, non religious, non violent protest against this administration's actions, history, and intentions, to ask them to resign, and to show the world a tiny resistance.

Hello! Does anyone know what speed I can set my walking pad to, to achieve 30 minutes of elevated heart rate activity? My walking pad doesn't have incline, I'd like to aim for that but I'm not sure how it all works. If it helps I'm about 170cm tall. Sorry if this is a silly question, I'll appreciate all answers as it's confused me for a while. Thank you in advance :)

Just got these sketchers Go Run, great solid feel inside, not tight but not loose, and each step feels amazing.

I walked my first 5k five days this week! 🙌✨
At 266 lbs, I was worried about joint pain but I was mostly fine. The biggest challenge was staying motivated especially on stressful work days but I’m glad I pushed through. The walks actually helped me unwind after a busy day. Looking forward to the next progress and lessons!

Not sure if this is the right sub but I have been seeing a lot of people losing weight using a walking pad.
What is your experience using a walking pad? I live in a not so great area to go walk outside which is why I opted for a walking pad.
How long should my walking sessions be to start seeing results?
Thank you!
