This post more than any other makes me want to take 500 or $1000 and just try my luck. I’ve never bought a single stock in my life but I could afford to lose $500 or $1000. The entertainment seems so fun but I suppose losing $1000 doesn’t really seem fun if you lose $1000.

Can anyone recommend a good starting guide for puts/calls?

Paper trade. Find a how to trade options mentor on YouTube.

I assure you it's not easy. In fact you will get your ass handed to you almost 95% of the time like everybody else.

Playing options is the fastest way to lose money on stocks other than futures trading, which is literally like a fucking slot machine. Go watch videos on NinjaTrader future trading to see what I'm talking about

Options are designed to lose money greater than 50% of the time.

This guy just got lucky and beat the casino. If he kept playing he’d lose it all eventually. You’d actually have better odds winning in most casino games than gambling options.

But if that’s fun for you go for it, just don’t take an early win as a sign you know what you are doing and put more money into it than you were initially willing to lose.
