Any news about potential rate cuts prior to Powell speaking is just speculation

These guesses were not even best guesses. It had Kramer vibe.

Not only were they "not the best guesses" people were guessing that in a situation causing inflation that the fed was going to cause even more sever longer lasting inflation.

This was close to the worst guess possible.
