People didn't know how bad shit could get lol.

Powell made some hard choices during the post covid recession the world felt and it made him unpopular. Now he's fighting a legit moron and people woke up to the fact that he actually is the only one who actually is trying not to break everything.

Powel is already done with his term next year I think, then the board needs to choose a new leader. Im sure Trump will stick some Fox news anchor in the role. -80% interest rates as long as your bank account has over 10M

I wasn't a fan of them going full regard on MBS purchases during COVID, leading to below-inflation mortgage rates and a property value spike that culminated in the most expensive mortgage payments on a new home since 1975, salary adjusted. That QE lever was designed for the GFC, not to pull any time the economy gets spooked.

Besides that, he's been alright.

He's been right on since Covid, or maybe just a bit slow but still making the right moves. It was Bernanke who fucked us by cutting rates to 0 after the GFC, leading to runaway debt leveraging and house gobbling and cock gobbling

They exerted influence by kidnapping Congress's power of the purse. The Fed, by design, is not federally funded so much as it is the money system itself. Much harder to threaten funding of the organization that has the ability to literally make money.
