Okay, now this impacts me and I'm angry.
I at least wanna be home playing MarioKartWorld while unemployed from AI eventually taking my job.

Don't worry bud, with how things are going you may well be unemployed before AI can take your job.

At this point he’s going to be sitting next to an unemployed AI robot playing MarioKart World together.

I filtered out everything political everything trump and everything musk right after the election. I have now come to the understanding that even if I do not see or hear him, his leadership is so bad its slowly leaks and infects every facet of society and life. ive lost 25% of my portfolio within the last two months and that's after going through every precaution to try and stop form losing too much $

And we're only 3 months in. Only another 45 to go....

Trump's 2 biggest policies for his second term are return to the spoils system and tariffs.
It's interesting that his biggest Presidential idols are Jackson whose spoils system led directly to Garfield's death, and McKinley who was killed before he could put an end to his own tariffs.

I’m in US companies. Solely 100% American companies. With my hedging I’m down 3% this year, could’ve been up way more but decided to take a geeen day to reset my hedges and the stock went up even further causing all my hedges to go significantly red.
Oh well. See you in May when my shares get called away

u/Tha_Sly_Fox 10h ago
They only said preorders are cancelled, they said they’re still releasing in mid June at $450.00 a unit, so you’re good.
Although we may all be unemployed come June and struggling to pay our electric bills so maybe not all good, but the potential of buying it will still be there.
10
u/Deceptiveideas 8h ago
No, they said they’re still releasing it in mid June. Not that they will be sold for $450 in June.
10
u/mayonezz 10h ago
Just get it on a 96 month payment plan from Klarna.
3
u/Tha_Sly_Fox 8h ago
Can I put my medium dominoes pizza on the same plan or do I need 2 separate plans?
6
6
u/wsippel 8h ago
They don’t want to adjust the price and they can’t delay the launch at this point, so I think they’re considering diverting stock originally intended for the US launch to other markets. Taking preorders if you don’t know for sure how many units you’ll have available doesn’t make much sense.

So I'll be out of a job while paying 2x for Switch2 from scalpers on eBay because I couldn't pre-order it like a civilized member of society.

u/swohio All My Homies ❤️ Skyline Chili 9h ago
They didn't say they were eliminating pre-ordering entirely, just that they're delaying it.

u/ultramilkplus 11h ago
They targeted gamers.
Gamers.
We're a group of people who will sit for hours, days, even weeks on end performing some of the hardest, most mentally demanding tasks. Over, and over, and over all for nothing more than a little digital token saying we did.
We'll punish our selfs doing things others would consider torture, because we think it's fun.
We'll spend most if not all of our free time min maxing the stats of a fictional character all to draw out a single extra point of damage per second.
Many of us have made careers out of doing just these things: slogging through the grind, all day, the same quests over and over, hundreds of times to the point where we know evety little detail such that some have attained such gamer nirvana that they can literally play these games blindfolded.
Do these people have any idea how many controllers have been smashed, systems over heated, disks and carts destroyed 8n frustration? All to latter be referred to as bragging rights?
These people honestly think this is a battle they can win? They take our media? We're already building a new one without them. They take our devs? Gamers aren't shy about throwing their money else where, or even making the games our selves. They think calling us racist, mysoginistic, rape apologists is going to change us? We've been called worse things by prepubescent 10 year olds with a shitty head set. They picked a fight against a group that's already grown desensitized to their strategies and methods. Who enjoy the battle of attrition they've threatened us with. Who take it as a challange when they tell us we no longer matter. Our obsession with proving we can after being told we can't is so deeply ingrained from years of dealing with big brothers/sisters and friends laughing at how pathetic we used to be that proving you people wrong has become a very real need; a honed reflex.
Gamers are competative, hard core, by nature. We love a challange. The worst thing you did in all of this was to challange us. You're not special, you're not original, you're not the first; this is just another boss fight.

Minimalism with Obama was neat though, Obama's whole thing was about recovery and breaking through barriers, feeling that society was genuinely progressing despite the turmoil. Humility was a massive part of the process.
This is shit that the current admin simply can't do as a strategy. Its too prideful. They'll do something more bombastic to compensate

This will make grocery prices come down so quick. Inflation was spiking because of a fear of how the Switch 2 entry to market would affect the global supply chain.

Even with the ridiculous game prices there are people still willing to pay them. 🤷 I was at least gonna get the Mario kart world bundle. That would have held me over for a while until I could afford the next game.

u/PretzelsThirst 9h ago

You saying this as a gamer. But look at this like a degenerate stock market gambler.
Nintendo 1st party games are more often than not long term money printers for them. Botw, smash brothers, Pokémon etc. These all get hundreds of hours of playtime and are some of the best bang for your buck in terms of gaming you can get. Compare that to battlepasses which are just UI grinds and cheap garbage cosmetics.
Nintendo games don’t go on sale often and never reach bargain bin. The quality factor cannot be ignored. You can wait 6 months to get the next assassin’s creed game for $20-$30 but most you can expect a Nintendo 1st party game to go on sale for is maybe a $10 discount after a year.
Compare a standard fighting game to Smash Brothers. The last DBZ game was devoid of long term content but you can spend a year on smash and still be unlocking things in the base game before dlc.
I don’t think Nintendo games need to get cheaper, I think prices should be tied to quality and depth. It makes no sense for a new street fighter and the next GTA to be within $40 of each other at release but that’s the state of the industry now. Really basic content like a fun grind is just gone now and replaced with MTX garbage grinds that are aiming for metrics that don’t place an importance on fun.
Ubisoft designs a grind that rewards using real money to cut through the bullshit and charges full price at release. Nintendo designs a grind that is rewarding and isn’t asking for your credit card. I would gladly pay $80 for Cyberpunk, Zelda, GTA, Elder Scrolls etc but never for Assassin’s Creed.
Hopefully, it means more incentive to make great games with fun depth so a higher price point can be justified and that creates a stronger $20-40 price point for MTX reliant games.
We are getting to the point of majority of major IP having one game per console cycle. Games with depth need to make it up somewhere and I’d rather it’s a higher price point than more MTX garbage grinds

u/Wall_of_Wolfstreet69 9h ago
Although the game share feature seems kind of stupid with this train of thought.
1
u/branyk2 9h ago
There's some truth to this, and even with higher prices, gaming is only an expensive hobby if you lack impulse control. Look at how much people spend on alcohol, weed, and gambling weekly and it's super easy to take that budget and get months worth of entertainment out of it from buying games you'll actually enjoy.
Part of the issue is that people just prospectively buy random games for a mythical "backlog" where they spend a few hundred dollars on "cheap" games they'll never play, $5-15 at a time.

u/Cream314Fan 12h ago

1
u/RedPiece0601 12h ago
It's 80$ for physical and 70$ for digital

Nintendo has $80 listed here nothing about separate pricing for digital.

2

More like, given American gamers losing their financial purchasing power It's time for all software developers to focus on markets that actually matter like, Europe or China.

A lot of those devices are manufactured in nations being hit with tariffs so the prices of those items are likely to skyrocket as well.

5
u/Ho_Lee_Phuk 8h ago
Nintendo is royally fucked. Even without the tariffs the switch 2 and its games are quite expensive. Who is going to buy the switch 2 with an added tax of 20 % and an looming worldwide recession? To me, Nintendo looks like a prime candidat for shorting
16
u/deMarcel 7h ago
Everyone except US citizens will buy it because no one else has astronomical tariffs on Japan tech lol
1
u/Ho_Lee_Phuk 6h ago
No, because there's is a good chance these tariffs will plunge most of the world in to recession. But even if it's just the US marked where the switch flops, that still is a big hit to Nintendo. To bad I can't buy Nintendo puts on my broker.

1
u/skilliard7 6h ago
Good luck with that. Tariffs are on imports. Even if tariffs could apply to digital purchases, it could be circumvented by licensing to a US based publisher that "owns" the product, but pays back royalties to developer.
