What is your most prized shaving possession?
Spring is in full swing! What do you think a good scent is for the month of April?
Do you have a favorite Springtime activity? Any gardeners out there? What are you planting right now?
New wetshaver? This is the perfect place to ask questions.

Stirling’s Amyris. This is my favorite soap and, sadly, they’ve stopped making it. I’ve been using this very sparingly, but I think I’m going to start using it more often and just enjoy it while I have it. I think it’s better than worrying about it disappearing; turn around my perspective for a happier disposition. Man, I love this stuff!

Today I’m using my new Antiga Barbearia de Bairro badger brush with my old friend Cella. No matter what else I try, Cella along with Proraso green, will always hold a special place in my heart because of the nostalgia.
The brush is still new, so it had a bit of that badger smell. I soaked it for a while and then washed it with shampoo. Even after lathering with it for the shave, a hint of the smell is still there. If you have any tips, I’d greatly appreciate it.
Aside from the smell, I really liked how soft and easy it was to splay and face lather, all while still providing the gentle exfoliation that I enjoy.

Had a lovely shave this morning with this lot. Had a hot shower first with the window open, a really cool sea breeze drew in from outside which was mega. Realised I prefer a slightly more watery lather as I'm enjoying taking my time with the red tip and improving technique. Did 3 passes, wtg which is almost sideways for me xtg and atg. Lovely and smooth 1 tiny nick, no redness or sensitivity even on the neck! Couldn't believe it, just taking the time and gentlest of touches. Very happy. Best of shaves to everyone

This morning I finally tried the Kampfe Star razor HR-5B from 1890 that I recently purchased.
I must admit that I was a bit hesitant to try this razor.
As is my habit, I first scoured the web looking for as much information as possible on its use.
Then I sharpened it on a strop with its stropping machine of the time (pic 4).
Finally, after filling the basin with hot water, I did a nice face lathering with the brush that I had made by a craftsman based on a 19th century brush and the newly arrived Moon Soap Old School (just wow!).
The razor's handling is surprising, the right shaving angle is spontaneous and immediate.
The razor glided on my skin delicately and deeply, collecting lather, and after the first pass I could already say I was satisfied.
In search of the BBS, I lathered up and went against the grain: zero stress, zero snags, zero red spots!
One of the most pleasant shaves I've ever experienced, so much so that in the end the splash with bayrum was almost like doing it with fresh water.
I started with some fear, and finished with ease. What a razor!

merkur safety razor : fast, PERFECT shave, closest to the skin Shavette : the blade to stiff Straight razor: love the man feeling, it is like a spa to your face, takes forever which I don’t mind ( you don’t want to rush with a straight) , but not whatsoever a better shave than my merkur safety razor
Now I address my question to the connoisseurs on this subreddit: why a safety razor gives me a such superior shave compared with my straight? Please help me understand

Well I think it’s time to post my first sotd pics since joining the Reddit and starting DE shaving 2 months ago.
So far Wilkinson Sword and Gillette 7 o’clock SP gave me the best shaves. I can’t give a fair judgement to the Muhle blade that came with the razor and green Astras (India) since I was starting out and didn’t have the feel or technique for DE shaving. I will give them another try down the road. Right now I’m testing other blades, got some coming in the mail later this week.
Started out with Proraso white line like any other newbie and it’s great. But I have to say I’m in love with Taylor Of Old Bond Street. Every sample I’ve tried was just wonderful. So far tobacco leaf was my favourite. Also I gave soap samples from RE coming in and I’m very excited!
Razor: Muhle R89
Brush: Muhle Silvertip Fibre
Cream: Taylor Of Old Bond Street Eton College
Blade: Wilkinson Sword
Bowl: Tatara

I like to shave whilst in the shower. The steam helps keep pores open and the facial hair soft. I mainly purchased the set up because the bowl looked like it would be comfortable in my large hands (it is by the way). I can't believe how well the Anbbas soap feels on my face when I shave. And the Henson Razor is the best investment I have made. And yes, the whole system sits on a hook in the shower. What other shave soap is does everyone recommend and why?

Razor: Gillette Super Speed Black Handle.
Razor: Feather.
Brush: Simpson's Chubby 2 Platinum Synthetic.
Soap: ARKO!
Aftershave: Brion.
Balm: L'Occitane.
A very nice shave. The Feather and Gillette Super Speed worked really well together. The Gillette Super Speed is possibly my favorite shaving TTO razor.
I've been trying to get hold of some Brion for some time. In the end I relented and overpaid on Ebay. It's a nice Aftershave 👌🏻.

Review
Razor – Thanks to u/Basic-Enthusiasm for this beauty! Let’s start with the physical features. This razor has a handle length of 10cm, matching the Merkur Progress 510. While the original Merkur has 6 settings, this clone offers 9. The knob is made of plastic and, though it’s slightly lighter in color than the Merkur’s, it still feels solid. Interestingly, the knob is wider on the Merkur. Beneath the knob, you’ll find "Solingen" and "Undcrew" (yes, "Undcrew" – not "Unscrew") embossed. The base plate lacks any branding, featuring only drain holes. Unlike the Merkur, which has indication marks on the side, this clone has the marks on the base plate and top cap. The razor has a nice, weighted feel—similar to the Mingshi 2000s (Merkur Futur clone) and the chrome plating gives it a stunning, polished look.
Performance - As for performance, the knob remains secure up to setting 8. However, once you reach setting 9, the knob starts to loosen up. While the top cap and base plate stay tightly clamped, the knob unscrews slightly at this setting. From settings 1 to 8, the blade exposure doesn’t change much, unlike the Mingshi 2000s, where the highest setting (6) can feel dangerously aggressive (hence the "potato peeler" nickname). This razor is on the milder side overall. I did a patch test across the settings:
The razor’s efficiency impressed me on setting 8, it sliced through my 4 days of growth effortlessly. I didn’t feel any blade at all, and the shave was incredibly smooth, with no irritation except around my chin.
I was really excited to try this razor, and it didn’t disappoint. The shave was an absolute pleasure.
Blade - The Winner blade, after 4 uses, is still sharp and smooth. I’m confident it could last at least one more shave.
Menthol Mix Recipe - I created this menthol mix by combining the following ingredients:
Just three drops (or one pump) of this mix was enough to give me a bone-chilling shave. The sensation was intense, leaving a refreshing, cool feeling that lasted throughout the shave.
Thanks for reading, and happy shaving! :)

Scooped an “in ok shape” Ever Ready 100T brush for a low price recently in an effort to undertake my first go at a brush restoration/renovation.
Chopped off the crusty boar with an old GEM and bought a 22mm synthetic 3-band from the Golden Nib. Sanded down the surface going 400-1000-1500, plus added a radius to the edges then finished with a Flitz polish. Bored out the knot with some Forstner bits and filled the hollow handle with a few 5/8 nuts and epoxy resin for some heft.
Think it turned out pretttyyy good… lathered up like a champ too.
Also, I had relegated the Red Tip to the “under sink” collection, for no particular reason, but damn is that thing efficient. It’s sorta wild Gillette put out something that heavy at that time.

Break from my 1 pass experiment. No shave yesterday and playing with the worship band this morning took my time on this cold Texas morning.
Beginning to realize that other than with Stirling I just prefer…and have better shaves…loading from the container and face lathering.
Noble Otter base just suits me. 4 hours later my face still feels touchable and amazing.
I have a pretty good nose and a too large “library” of scents but I can’t quite nail down an EdP that fits Eros Ambrosia. Went with Amouage Journey Man which is about as close to a signature scent as I get. Blends well but not a match. I’ve also tried Móntale Dark Aoud with it and same close but no cigar. No matter , love their scents and maybe they will make an EdP like they did with Barrbarr.
