Fluff I subbed to WoW last year solely because they added Tauren Mages, and the journey has been so worth it.

FOR THE HERD!

69

u/Desperate-Sun2577 Dec 17 '24

The world must be Tauren!

34

u/Salihe6677 Dec 17 '24

STOP I CANNOT TAKE ANYMORE, PLEASE'SA YOU ARE TAUREN ME APART!

3

u/crossmissiom Dec 18 '24

When Tauren DH is eventually a thing, I'm race changing. Paly and hunter are of course already Taurens.

2

u/yardii Dec 18 '24

ASSIMOOLATE

25

u/herroebauss Dec 17 '24

I had this with dwarves and somehow also warriors. I've got 3 dwarven warriors. I wanted a change of pass so I made a Kul'Tiran warrior

20

u/WorthPlease Dec 17 '24

They're like a dwarf but, plus sized!

10

u/TehTac Dec 17 '24

I deleted my first tauren cos the way he kept scratching annoyed me so much. And then a few years later I became a tauren convert, had about a dozen of various classes when I stopped playing.

Do miss my cow army sometimes

16

u/Alt0173 Dec 17 '24

Genuinely the best model if you play a female melee character. There's only a handful of races that look like they can actually swing their sword, and tauren are awesome for that. Special shoutout to orcs and Kul Tirans as well!

3

u/shlomo_baggins Dec 18 '24

Pandaria Remix got me that.... I tried out new races and classes for a while and it was fun. For a while. But then after I had maxed out every class, I started asking myself why aren't I a cow right now?

Releveled those who were not of the beef. For the Herd.

2

u/8-Brit Dec 18 '24

It's so fucking funny to me that tauren can be basically every class in the game now, with exception to the two race specific hero classes.

Even the elf races can't compete with that.

2

u/larsja83 Dec 20 '24

Me aswell, always a tauren, if i couldnt play as tauren it was no point. But then i rolled Troll in WoW classic, now i need to ride on my raptor. But offcourse my alt was a druid.

1

u/worried_consumer Dec 17 '24

It’s so much easier to see your characters position with mechanics as a Tauren

1

u/Accurate-Piccolo-488 Dec 18 '24

Would you make the northrend cousins of theirs if they were made playable?

1

u/BarbarianBeast10 Dec 18 '24

There is no cow level

1

u/Competitive-Balance3 Dec 18 '24

The return on investment will be huge

1

u/TyrannosavageRekt Dec 18 '24

I’m like this with Night Elves. Just waiting for Shaman to drop… 😅

1

u/FerretNirvana Dec 22 '24

Omg I'm changing race now!!

u/Kaltvene Dec 17 '24 edited Dec 17 '24

I have a Highmountain Tauren frost mage named Rimehoof. Moose Mage ftw.

Just want to add that Blink + the charge is a really fun combo that is likely overlooked by the more meta races

MOOSE MAGE

54

u/Warcraft_Fan Dec 17 '24

If there is more than one moose mage, is it meese mage, mooses mage, moose mages, or something else?

60

u/GrotesqueOstrich Dec 17 '24

Moose magi

18

u/mhmyfayre Dec 17 '24

An argument of moose magi

9

u/Zombiewax Dec 17 '24

The Moogi.

6

u/thugarth Dec 17 '24

See, this sounds badass

10

u/Dillion_Murphy Dec 17 '24

To quote the great Brian Regan...it's moosen

8

u/NauticalMobster Dec 17 '24

Moose is the plural for moose. So I think moose mages sounds the most correct to me?

3

u/-jp- Dec 17 '24

Actually, it's "mooses mage." Like "secretaries general."

6

u/RogueEyebrow Dec 17 '24

Moose Mage, Mooge.

5

u/-jp- Dec 17 '24

A Møøge once sheeped my sister.

5

u/SharkRaptor Druid of the Sky 💙 Dec 17 '24

My moose mage is named “Magicmoose”

2

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '24

Moosage

14

u/Cyynric Dec 17 '24

I love using "hoof" for Tauren names. I made a rogue named 'Mufflehoof'.

3

u/Kaltvene Dec 17 '24

My Tauren are hoofs and my dwarfs are beards lol

2

u/Lombardyn Dec 17 '24

My Tauren are all "Bull". Horribull, Invisibull, Terribull, Incredibull...
Vulpera are "tail".

1

u/Levonorgestrelfairy1 Dec 17 '24 edited Dec 17 '24

I got Silenthoof somehow.

1

u/methos3 Dec 18 '24

The OG classic being “Hoofhearted”.

1

u/Unicycleterrorist Dec 18 '24

Much to my dismay, Falconhoof is always taken

10

u/Tuskor13 Dec 17 '24

"I'm not gonna sugar coat it. Blink + Bull Rush + Hot Streak Pyroblast"

5

u/ParanoidTelvanni Dec 17 '24

Mine is icehorn lol

5

u/Maleficent_Fill_2451 Dec 17 '24

Oh my god, that is the best idea ever.....

3

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '24

Well damn. I know what I’m doing with my time off.

3

u/OfTheAtom Dec 17 '24

Moose mage is awesome. I also love sunwalkers and am glad they added it.

3

u/AKA_Arivea Dec 17 '24

My main is a Highmountain Tauren Hunter, love doing aspect of the cheetah and bull rush together. I have 2 level 80 mages already Vulpera and Dark Iron Dwarf, this makes me want to roll a 3rd mage... Haven't done fire yet.

3

u/elmntfire Dec 18 '24

I love my high mountain warrior for much the same reason. Charge, racial, heroic leap, intervene, shield charge. Movement for days.

2

u/ravenofblight Dec 17 '24

And here I though my stealth charge, then fire a gat high mountain rogue was the secret sauce

2

u/PocketPoof Dec 17 '24

I was thinking recently how tauren mage is a combination I feel I have practically never seen, so I made a highmountain tauren mage last night. He's lvl 65 now, glad to see there's more!

1

u/Same-Sherbert-7613 Dec 17 '24

Love to see it I'm a HM DK and its the best thing ever. If you don't see my eyes its honestly hard to tell what Im playing because of how colorful and not undead my transmog is I love it so much.

80

u/CharlieChop Dec 17 '24

This is a whole damn vibe and I'm loving it! Do you have a link for the mog?

21

u/Desperate-Sun2577 Dec 17 '24

I'll see if I can remember when the servers go back up!

12

u/EasterChimp Dec 17 '24

Following because I also want to know. Awesome look!

30

u/Desperate-Sun2577 Dec 17 '24

I might be ablt to just name these off the top of my head actually.

Wanderer's Cloudy Scarf
Stained Artisan's Apron
Deep Cartographer's Compass
Lilac Educator's Pants
Azure Treads of the Kalu'ak
Sapphire Faced Mobile Time Piece.

Not shown: Earthen Backpack and Weathered Explorer's Staff

31

u/Batmanbacon Dec 17 '24

I haven't played wow in a decade, but I remember as a kid we used to make jokes about tauren rogues.

Imagine the whiplash I got from this post, and then learning about tauren mages, warlocks and rogues.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 19 '24

Yeah same It doesn’t fit the Tauren race fantasy at all

1

u/SoyaJAR_ Dec 20 '24

Back then probably. But at this point some Tauren might wanna explore and learn new things outside of their people's norms.

27

u/FritztheChef Dec 17 '24

I'm still waiting for one of the smol races to get druid. I would reroll so fast

29

u/Reverend_Schlachbals Dec 17 '24

I’m still hoping for undead druid. The forms would be sick.

22

u/ReallyShortGiant Dec 17 '24

Plagued, even

6

u/HDWendell Dec 18 '24

Fungal form instead of tree

1

u/GenericEvilGuy Dec 18 '24

Blizz plsss 😭

19

u/HDWendell Dec 17 '24

Need squirrel form

1

u/Get_Out69 Dec 17 '24

You kinda get that with imorph but animations would probably be buggy.

1

u/Nukemann64 Dec 19 '24

I want Dwarf Druids! : D and their bear looks like a rock or something?! i think that'd be amazing.

194

u/trbrd Dec 17 '24

Me, an eternal human paladin/cleric in every fantasy video game ever, applauds your daring to be different.

30

u/Desperate-Sun2577 Dec 17 '24

TBH my usual "guy" outside WoW is pretty much always a Human of some sorts.

42

u/Scire_facias Dec 17 '24

Most of us are human outside of wow as well.

39

u/muritai_ Dec 17 '24

Debatable

8

u/GloriamNonNobis Dec 17 '24

Some times I get bold and choose the most human looking elf with brightly colored hair.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '24

Ahh! then may I suggest Dracthyr in visage form for you sir.

2

u/Unicycleterrorist Dec 18 '24

Oh, or give your human some pointy ears with the new customizations

70

u/StardustJess Dec 17 '24

You're telling me Tauren mage wasn't a thing until recent years ? Damn, it's the first thing I picked when I subscribed this year!

76

u/Desperate-Sun2577 Dec 17 '24

Tauren had the least amount of classes in vanilla, and now they have the most. Mage, Warlock and Rogue were added late into Dragonflight.

35

u/door_of_doom Dec 17 '24

2004: Druid, Hunter, Shaman, Warrior

2024: Death Knight, Druid, Hunter, Mage, Monk, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior

You love to see it.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '24 edited Jan 22 '25

[deleted]

1

u/door_of_doom Dec 18 '24

No monk in your eyes? Tauren seem pretty zen.

1

u/blasek0 Dec 18 '24

Wasn't monk universal when they added it?

2

u/door_of_doom Dec 18 '24

Not completely universal: goblins were excluded at the start, and some allied races like Light forged were excluded at their introduction.

But largely, yes. Cataclysm was the first expac that really opened up a lot of race/class combos, so by mists a lot of races we're much more open than the 4-6 classes in vanilla.

1

u/8-Brit Dec 18 '24

Literally only missing the two race specific hero classes. Not even the myriad of elves can compete.

13

u/Luvas Dec 17 '24

The most flexible people in all of Azeroth alongside Zandalari!

26

u/zenspeed Dec 17 '24

According to the internet, the most flexible people in all of Azeroth are blood elves and Draenei.

15

u/OEMoose Dec 17 '24

Depending on who you ask the Draenei may also be the most well equipped.

2

u/Fledbeast578 Dec 18 '24

The women only though

1

u/OEMoose Dec 18 '24

THE WOMAN ONLY THOUGH

9

u/doberman8 Dec 17 '24

Tauren rogue has to be the best thing ever

7

u/theangryintern Dec 17 '24

I made a Tauren Rogue mainly because it's funny to have something that big be "stealthy". His name is Vacafurtiva (sneaky cow)

1

u/Infinitedeveloper Dec 18 '24

They're so good nobody even knew they existed until the champions became cosmic level fighters

→ More replies (2)

9

u/Sarcastic-Potato Dec 17 '24

Tauren rogue must be a lot of fun on an role playing server. How the hell do you sneak around while being a gigantic cow?

6

u/Lombardyn Dec 17 '24

You have to see Tauren Rogue a bit like the Tauren Paladin. Technically their paladins are Sunstriders, which are more like armored priests worshipping the light as a sun aspect of the earth mother.
Likewise, I'd see Tauren Rogues more akin to their Longstrider description. Scouts specialized on subterfuge and stealth, reconnaissance and espionage. Less assassination. Or embrace the Outlaw spec, since there seem to be a lot of Tauren pirates around Booty Bay for some odd reason.

2

u/MostlyNoOneIThink Dec 18 '24

Rogues use magic. That one Thrall cinematic shows it alongside the stealth sound effect.

2

u/Elleden Dec 18 '24

Now that you mention it, what kind of magic is that, cosmology-chart-wise? Arcane seems the most versatile, generally.

1

u/MostlyNoOneIThink Dec 18 '24

I'd say Arcane purely because Mages can also go invisible.

2

u/Elleden Dec 18 '24

So the in-game distinction between Stealth and Invisibility is purely a mechanical thing, then?

→ More replies (1)

28

u/StardustJess Dec 17 '24

I really love it though. Tauren is my favourite race. I'm the kind of person that thinks all races should have access to all classes. It's just more fun to role play that way

1

u/BridgemanBridgeman Dec 19 '24

Also makes every race less unique. The thought of a tauren stealthing around on his big fat hooves is just ridiculous.

At this point just delete race selection from the game, and add a skin selector to the barbershop. That’s basically what races are now, just skins.

1

u/StardustJess Dec 19 '24

But funny ?

Honestly, yeah. I was a bit baffled at how useless the race skill is as a tauren, and then I played as a pandaren and noticed how useless it also it. It perplexes me why.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '24

[deleted]

6

u/Desperate-Sun2577 Dec 17 '24

Tauren and Zandalari currently have the most as of TWW afaik.

1

u/stprnn Dec 17 '24

Can you be a priest?

2

u/hellomyfren6666 Dec 17 '24

You can easily google this

1

u/thesirblondie Dec 17 '24

I remember back in Vanilla/BC times when people were doing private servers with customisation that allowed things like Tauren rogues. It was really janky because they didn't have proper animations for certain attacks.

3

u/catluvr37 Dec 17 '24

Most races couldn’t pick up quite a few classes. Mostly for lore reasons, like night elves couldn’t use arcane magic because they brought a wrathful god to Azeroth by using it. Female night elves almost couldn’t be druids because in the lore only males could. The women were the brute warriors

1

u/StardustJess Dec 17 '24

Yeah, I understand the lore standpoint. But still a shame yknow ?

2

u/catluvr37 Dec 17 '24

Oh for sure. At least with the orb of deception we could dream haha

15

u/Background_Ad_582 Dec 17 '24

I made a High mountain tauren Monk named "Moose Lee"

→ More replies (2)

12

u/The_sponge_is_a_lie Dec 17 '24

I hope you called him hairy potter

22

u/sabrinalilithblack Dec 17 '24

This is what I love about WoW. Tauren is one of the few races I'll probably never play (along with Pandaren and maybe chicken-gnomes), but I love that there are people that absolutely adore them and how it creates a feeling of true diversity in-game. 💜

11

u/Uncle_Leggywolf Dec 17 '24

You won’t play the two hottest races in the game? 🐮🐼💔

9

u/sabrinalilithblack Dec 17 '24

I know. Totally missing my chance to be a cow DK called Moorderer or Necromooncer or something like that or even a Pandaren rogue called like, Bamboozled even 😅

1

u/Waaterfight Dec 19 '24

I've only played tauren for 16 years.

5

u/baws1017 Dec 17 '24

me still waiting for Night Elf shamans

14

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '24

Really wish they'd just uncap class restrictions at this point. Once you had tauren rogues, everything was out the window

Undead paladin would be sick, girlfriend is dying to play a belf druid, i think an undead shaman with tombstones for totems would be badass

3

u/8-Brit Dec 18 '24

Really wish they'd just uncap class restrictions at this point. Once you had tauren rogues, everything was out the window

I fully expect it's the eventual plan, the only classes left are ones that need custom assets beyond spell visuals. Paladin mounts, shaman totems, druid forms.

Totems would be easiest, just a (mostly) static object with some recolours. Mounts and druid forms are harder.

4

u/mister_gone Dec 17 '24

Meanwhile I have a 'Unseeabull' rogue I still haven't leveled.

3

u/bazzabaz1 Dec 17 '24

Yet here I am, craving an undead Paladin.

1

u/Timecunning Dec 18 '24

That one is a hard one your hope is going to be a light undead skin.

Undead currently have too few holy magic users because of the cost of using it.

3

u/mavric911 Dec 17 '24

I started a Tauren mage because I thought combustabull was a great name but found I hate fire mage so I still play my goblin instead.

Turns out the great pun name is a limiting factor

3

u/NewJerseysbody Dec 17 '24

Dracthyr warrior is also a lot of fun. Cancel any knockback coming my way and going straight back to my enemies faces.

3

u/javilla Dec 17 '24

They added Tauren mages??? Any other new race/class combinations I've missed?

3

u/Desperate-Sun2577 Dec 17 '24

Virtually everyone can be Warrior/Rogue/Mage/Priest/Warlock/Hunter now.

3

u/JayVJtheVValour Dec 17 '24

I have a fire mage i just called Crispysteak

3

u/kthxqapla Dec 17 '24

finally I can have Captain Beefheart and his Magic Gang

6

u/Lord-Momentor Dec 17 '24

upvoted just to encourage blizzard to make class/race variation.

2

u/Adg01 Dec 17 '24

Tauren Paladin my beloved, and Highmoo (survival) Hunter is BiS aesthetic.

2

u/VYarr Dec 17 '24

Looks like a chill dude. I'd go for beers with this guy, but you know he'd be pulling parlor tricks for luls once he got drunk.

2

u/Valuable_Material_26 Dec 17 '24

hamburgers can be mages now? all right, I gotta try this out

2

u/MrSentinazo Dec 17 '24

Dude you look amazing. I also switched to a tauren in the draenor server because they look like chads as warriors.

2

u/Venturians Dec 17 '24

I made a tauren Brewmaster Monk named TubbyTwirler lol

2

u/Par_Lapides Dec 17 '24

My Mistweaver Tauren is named Chao.

2

u/Impossible_Emu9590 Dec 17 '24

Tauren have always been one of my faves too. Sick mage

2

u/ace82fadeout Dec 17 '24

I think it's very funny that the game always appealed to you enough to be interested in it but never taking the plunge before because of a lack of cow wizards lol

1

u/Desperate-Sun2577 Dec 17 '24

I left out the bit that I mostly played Classic before this lmao.

2

u/DuckAbuse Dec 17 '24

Freakin cool picture

2

u/Degree_Slow Dec 17 '24

moo moo magic🐮🪄

2

u/galacticspark Dec 17 '24

I think the funniest combo is Highmountain Tauren rogue. A 600 kg moose lumbers by while stealthed, and somehow no one sees or hears anything 🤣

1

u/Timecunning Dec 18 '24

Not all rogues are good at stealth.

Pirates exist and is probably the path they got rogues by.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '24

i've been waiting for kul tiran paladin

2

u/tappedoutalottoday Dec 17 '24

During vanilla I wanted to make a Tauren Rogue to name him Hamburglar

2

u/VaxDaddyR Dec 17 '24

WHERE ARE YEWWWWW

2

u/Mach0K1ng Dec 17 '24

Tauren are the best. That is all.

2

u/kamouh Dec 17 '24

I ve a tauren (and I only play taurens) for every race.

I ve never been a big fan of mages but... In September I came back to wow after a looooong while and I leveled up a tauren mage (it was a new combination for me!)

At first I still had doubts about but... Then I saw I could go "frostfire". I wasnt really happy with frost - frostfire the damage still looked far too much frost oriented so I didn't perceive it really like a frostFIRE. Then I tried to go fire - frostfire... And had a (fire)blast with it! Was TON of fun! The damage was actually really mixed between frost and fire ... Plus the meteor-comet storm had a higher uptime/usage compared to the frost one.

P.S. obviously I might have messed up something with the frost - frostfire when I say "the damage looked too frost oriented and wasn't mixed that much". I m not longer a tryharder hardcore player and I m just a casual tauren played had enjoyed Delves a lot. Best thing ever happened to wow for me. Could play all my herd and have fun with whatever talents I felt like! (While having the Zekvir ?? Challenge... That was also fun!)

2

u/TerroDark98 Dec 18 '24

You can also make a tauren rogue, which is hilarious.
*STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP*
"I AM STEALTHY!!!"
*STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP*

2

u/Katalyst81 Dec 18 '24

Draenei as well, gotta be some noisy hooves.

2

u/chillhypeman Dec 18 '24

My main is a Tauren hunter, along with a lot of my other classes 😅

2

u/Void-kun Dec 18 '24

This is awesome! What's the story behind you only subbing for Tauren Mage?

2

u/Desperate-Sun2577 Dec 18 '24

I've had a lot of mental health issues around enjoying games my peers deem as "bad", so I mostly played Classic for a while because it was the "better WoW".

but I really love Tauren and I had a Shaman for a while in WoTLK Classic, but also I ended up playing Mage as well and loving that.

So when I heard about Tauren Mage it was love at first sight.

2

u/Void-kun Dec 18 '24

I'm sorry to hear your peers had that effect on you. But I'm glad to hear you've found your place and you're having fun ❤️

3

u/No-Blood-4821 Dec 17 '24

You finally can make your own iced milk xD

2

1

u/Lava-Jacket Dec 17 '24

Please tell me your name has something to do with frozen steak

1

u/Revolutionary_Item74 Dec 17 '24

Honestly I Fucking Love that they added more race/class combos, it’s super awesome being able to play the game in new and exciting ways

1

u/azzgrash13 Dec 17 '24

My least favorite race. They’re cool Druids and warriors. That’s it.

1

u/ilovecatjam Dec 18 '24

Well, I know what I am making tomorrow! Didnt realise they could be mages and now I wanna be a Mooge.

1

u/Donpickle Dec 18 '24

Same but Tauren Warlock and Rogue

1

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '24

Tauren rogues...clickity clickity clack, stun lock and dead.

1

u/Zollaiii Dec 18 '24

Ah yes, wizard cow

1

u/Fourleaf_ToG Dec 18 '24

Where is my dwarf druid >:(

1

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '24

What a joke of a game wow has become lol

1

u/foundermeo Dec 18 '24

Told you Nangi has a mind like a steel trap. Oh, I wish I had a memory like an elephant.

1

u/i_am_not_Venom Dec 18 '24

I can relate that. Since I grabbed my Tauren hunter named Wagyufilet I’m into it!

1

u/Arristotelis Dec 18 '24

Awesome screen shot!

1

u/airplane_flap Dec 18 '24

I did not know this first thing I'll be doing this evening

1

u/Imaginary-Horror Dec 18 '24

I resub to make a Tauren rogue

1

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '24

What’s so special about Tauren….?

1

u/Grymbones Dec 18 '24

I want this feeling one day but for Goblin Paladins.

1

u/Testabronce Dec 20 '24

"Frosthoof hungers!"

1

u/shaha-man Dec 21 '24

I did quit retail forever because that was one of the reasons actually

1

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '24

I'm still waiting on being able to have a Worgen Paladin.

1

u/LamerLand Jan 02 '25

I understand this line of thinking. I rolled a gnome hunter just to Eng Gnome Hunter. Mechanical Chicken Mount / Optimo named Mechanical Chicken Pet / Mechanical Chicken pet with a Battle Chicken out...
