Piccadilly Building Site Alarm
I live on Piccadilly Street and the building site behind spark has an alarm that goes off every 5 minutes. Does anyone know a number to call or something to get that sorted because it’s driving me and my girlfriend mad. It starts at around 7am and stops roughly around 4. During that time it goes off almost every minute and longest every 5 minutes.
Anyway, if anyone knows anything to do because it’s genuinely driving me insane now lol.

Hi everyone, we're going to be in the Cotswolds, Peak District and York for a holiday between the 26th of April and the 1st of May. Does anyone know if there's a local (beltaine) fair or festival on then? I have found some on the weekend after the first of may but sadly we will be back home by then.
Any information would be aporeciated. Thank you!

Does anyone want some in-date beef mince?
Not even kidding. Due to a mishap I seem to have 10 packets of coop beef mince. I am literally a vegetarian and my bf can only eat so much mince, and our freezer is tiny.
Bonus points if anyone can point me to a community initiative that would actually take it (food banks don't seem to do fresh, and the only community kitchen I can find is the mosque, and I don't think coop mince is halal)
Edit: listed on olio and scheduled for collection

Small electrical repairs
Is there somewhere in York that does small electrical repairs? I've heard of places in other cities where they have community projects to repair things that can, rather than dump them on the scrap heap in the name of consumerism.
Internet searches have sourced this one in Pocklington. Wasn't sure if there was something closer to York that anyone knew off

Visiting spring 2026
My wife and I are going to York next spring (our 2nd visit, 1st visit was fall 2024). This time we're going to split our time between York and Edinburgh. We'll have 4 days in York, but our last visit we did a day trip to Whitby. Is there a different day trip you'd recommend or would you suggest we do Whitby again (we enjoyed our last trip, because we went through the Moors and that was one one of the most incredible things I've witnessed)? We will not be renting a car, as an American, driving on the opposite side is too much of a risk, so we'll be taking tour services.

Creepy drunk guy on 4 bus
I often travel on the the 4 bus to and from Acomb. Just wanted to warn passengers, particularly female passengers of a creepy guy wearing a flat cap, looks to be in his late 60s or 70s, tall and slim, who travels on this bus. He usually gets on at the stop at the Tesco on Ousegate and smells strongly of spirits. He has a habit of sitting next to females, usually in seats where they can be confined e.g. back of the bus in a corner especially when it's busy. I have seen him do this to a bunch of young school girls and a lady with a walking stick. He starts by chatting and appearing to be generally friendly but then quickly becomes overly familiar asking very personal information and moving closer. It is obvious he is making women uncomfortable but he often does this on busier services so it's difficult to move seats. I have reported it a few times to drivers especially when he was very obviously sexually harassing the schoolgirls. Please keep an eye out for him!

More homeless and drinkers around?
Hello, I moved away from York a couple of years ago but still visit a couple of times a year to see family and friends.
In the last year I've been visiting, I've noticed way more homelessness and street drinkers in the centre. There have always been some of both, but it definitely feels like there are more around now, and I wondered if anyone else has noticed this or if there's a reason why?
I try not to judge, and everyone has problems, but I've even seen a couple of drinkers harass and start fights with people. I even had to step in to stop one guy from abusing a random young lady a few days ago.

Is Haxby safe?
I’ve recently been considering moving to Haxby/Wigginton as I assumed it was a nice village. However, I was told by someone I know that it isn’t safe “anymore”- the kids are drug running and carrying knives, there’s lots of feral youths and ASB. I can’t quite believe it, is there any truth to this? Worries me slightly as I have a little one.

Sky sports pub in city centre
Hi everyone, I'll be in York with a couple of Leeds United fans on Saturday and we're looking for a good pub or bar to watch the game at 12:30. Anyone got somewhere they recommend? I assume there will be plenty to choose from in the city centre.
Thanks in advance and sorry if this has been asked a hundred times before!

Gluten Free Eats and Other Suggestions for a York Visit
Hi everyone!
I will be visiting York for about a week in September. I have a decent list of what I imagine are the common tourist things to do around the city center but would love to get some suggestions from local people of your favorite spots around the city or are easily accessible by train/other public transit for a day trip. I especially enjoy being in natural areas that have lots of green/forests or flowers, interesting architecture, and a good place to eat. I do have celiac disease, so recommending restaurants or specific items that are gluten free around would be especially helpful. Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions.
