My spouse and I just tried to go to Waffle House in Girard around 11pm, only to pull in to a completely empty parking lot and see this sign.
I know it's blurry, but it says "Friday, Saturday, and holidays 10:30pm-6am to-go only"
Is this all waffle house locations, or did something happen in Girard?
I've been to this location a lot, often in the middle of the night, and it's always been chill and quiet.
It honestly feels like the end of the world š

To everyone who went out and protested today -
THANK YOU!
I worked downtown today and can tell you that you ruffled the feathers of some MAGAts. I can tell you that I heard horns honking consistently all day. I am so proud of you. I could not get the day off to take part, but the crowd that made it was awesome!
Letās keep the momentum. Iām going to the Walz town hall on Monday! You need to as well!!

The Youngstown Playhouse announced they are starting a second branch downtown, and in doing so, they pointed out that the patrons of the playhouse don't really interact with the businesses in the area. There isn't really anything around that would be suitable for after a play, with the exception of a soul food restaurant not too far away called Savannah Joe's.
YNDC bought the Foster theater and plan to convert it into apartments. I'd love to see it redeveloped for a business, but I have no idea what could go there. I think opening up businesses there would help the violence along the corridor, but I also think the violence makes everyone involved really cautious about what could go there.

this may be a stupid question, but does anyone know why they're chopping the shit out of the trees off of I-11? it seems like they're going decently far back, and the machines they're using are just kinda throwing wood everywhere. it's leaving the trees looking absolutely butchered. I've never seen this machine before this year, is this just routine tree maintenance? are they planning on expanding somehow, or maybe adding to the wall they put up last year? it feels like I'm watching tree gore lol, but I'm not an arborist and have no clue what I'm talking about at the end of the day. so can someone enlighten me? I've also recently seen workers using this machine on the road I live on, and it left the trees looking terrible and mangled.

Does anyone have any info on this case following the arrest? The pre-trial hearing was supposed to be last Wednesday and I was interested in seeing if the suspect had a history of mental illness.
This whole incident freaked me out a bit because it was so random. I've been telling people for years that Youngstown doesn't really feel that violent because random gun violence doesn't happen very often. Most of it occurs within a group of people who are acquainted with each other and are typically not trying to avoid violence.

Hi Youngstown!
Governor Tim Walz will be coming to Ohio on Monday, April 7th to hold a āpeopleās town hallā in your district (6), since Rep. Mike Rulli will not.
Space to be announced 24 hours before the event. It is from 6-8pm.
Space may be somewhat limited, so please keep this info in Youngstown-only spaces, so people who live there and have Rep. Rulli can sign up first.

Just had breakfast at Valley Kitchen that is right across from Meijer and it was damn good. Blueberry Lemon Ricotta pancakes are unbelievable and I got the Country Benny and was very very good. I highly recommend and will definitely be going again. If you order a side of bacon I would recommend asking for it crispy, mine was a tad under but still good.

Almost everywhere in the nation, the nicest homes are on side streets, frequently side streets that are sort of hidden. Is there anywhere in the valley where that isn't true? Where really nice homes overlook a busier than average road?

Anyone know bars that show the English Premier League soccer games that are only shown on Peacock (streaming)?

... and a mandate to dramatically improve Youngstown by this time next year. You get to define what improvement means. The money will disappear after the deadline, so there is no advantage to saving it.
Where do you start?

Ever since the East Palestine incident my mom has been extremely particular about where her water comes from. Weāve always used bottled water for drinking water, but sheās been going overboard since 2 years ago. Itās been annoying me lately since she doesnāt drive and she sends me to fetch gallons of bottled water (particularly not sourced from anywhere in Ohio), because she thinks all of the water in the surrounding area is contaminated. What makes it worse is that she uses the water for drinking and cooking and goes through 4-6 gallons per week. I donāt believe the water is contaminated because if that were the case, literally everyone wouldāve gotten sick and/or died a long time ago, and ironically, she still uses the tap water to bathe, wash dishes, and even to rinse her mouth. I have no idea how to convince her that the water is safe, and itās also starting to cost me money to continue buying her so much water every week. I even got her a filter but she still wasnāt comfortable with that and removed it.

I'm considering moving my existing retail business and was wondering if anybody knew of or has space available. I know of all the commercial websites and brokers in town and check with them frequently, but I'm hoping to find something through word of mouth.
We are looking for space anywhere between 1200-1800 sf (or more). Traditional storefront is preferred but our business lends itself to many different kinds of non-traditional space such as office space that can be used as retail space, converted churches or schools, houses in a commercial area. Really all sorts of buildings can accommodate us. The space doesn't need to be perfect and little wear on the space adds to our charm.
While we are specifically looking in the Boardman/Struthers/Poland area, we may be open to other areas if the situation is right.
We are easy tenants with minimal requirements. We are dedicated and well-known in our community.
If anybody can help, we'd appreciate it.

We're constantly hearing about how downtown will be a big part of Youngstown's , so let's give some props to some of the cool things going on there. Let's list the best of downtown Youngstown- whether it's something you think everyone knows about or something that you think more people need to know about.
My list:
1)Oh, Wow Children's Place
I am not a parent, but I think it is so cool that there is a place like this in Youngstown. I think I would have really appreciated something like this while I was growing up.
2)Common Wealth Kitchen Incubator
I think most people are aware of the business incubator, but did you know that there was a kitchen incubator, too? It's a commissary kitchen with professional grade tools and appliances designed to help Youngstown residents launch cooking ventures.
3)Dalia's Caribbean Kitchen
I spent a lot of time in NYC and grew to love Jamaican food, so I was so excited to find out about this spot. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is very inviting. The owner partnered with Common Wealth Kitchen to bring this place into fruition.
4)Downtown Circle
This isn't necessarily a hidden gem, but I spent a lot of time doing WFH at the library and didn't know there was a convenience store in the area for the longest time. I was glad to discover it and I love the fact that it is more of a city take on convenience stores, offering grill items like hot sandwiches and fries.

Been a solo esthetician for a year and love doing brows looking to build my portfolio!
Also in need of more chemical peel models. Iāve been having amazing results with clients just need more content!
Brow model prices are $30 for a wax, tint, and lamination (will be cheaper if you donāt want tint, lamination ect)
Chemical peels are $120 for a series of 4 which is a steallll. And perfect to do before summer time!

The Youngstown Playhouse plans to expand to downtown Youngstown, leasing the former home of the Oakland Center for the Arts in the same building that houses Ballet Western Reserve.
John Cox, president of the Youngstown Playhouseās board, cited several reasons for the decision. Itās difficult for any play to sell enough tickets to fill the Playhouseās main stage auditorium at its Glenwood Avenue building. And the tiny stage and the seating configuration in the Moyer Room make it unsuitable for some of the productions the Playhouse would like to consider.

Anyone remember this pool hall? I'm trying to remember the location. I think it was around 3408 Candfield Rd on the map.
