Does anyone here experience a feeling like difficulty breathing?
 in  r/cfs  6h ago

Dyspnea famously can be caused by anxiety, and anxiety is also a biological thing. Not saying it’s the only possible cause, but people with and without ME/CFS can get dyspnea from/with anxiety

I differentiate between what people call “air hunger” and a different kind of dyspnea that isn’t accompanied by the feeling of not getting enough oxygen, even though I’m objectively getting less oxygen. It feels as though my lungs have shrunk. It takes an abnormal amount of effort to take an in breath. My breathing becomes very slow as well as shallow. I physically can’t hyperventilate. I used to get a different kind of dyspnea that was often accompanied by anxiety and it made me hyperventilate but this feels completely different

Is it normal to have extremely intense anxiety with this illness? Specifically in regards to brain pem. Or is that more associated with the LC group?
 in  r/cfs  1d ago

No I wouldn’t say that it’s normal to be anxious to such an extent. Are you sure that’s why he’s screaming? Is he perhaps overstimulated by something? When I was at my worst the sound of my caregivers footsteps and the pressure of someone leaning on my bed were agonizing

Why are trans men policing trans womens womanhood?

Misogyny and repackaged bioessentialism (“AMABs are inherently predatory because they’re male socialized”🤢)

Sigma-1 receptor agonists?
 in  r/cfs  3d ago

When I brought this up with a psychiatrist she said many SSRIs are sigma1 agonists and that this whole thing is a pharma industry ploy to get people to buy an older antidepressant that’s falling out of use (Fluvoxamine)

You’ll never get a decent hourly wage by selling crochet items unless you’re exceptionally skillful and have rich clients. If you want to make money with crochet, sell patterns

The hubbub around staphylococcus toxoid vaccine

Not only is there no proposed theoretical mechanism, the study design was shoddy. It wasn’t even blinded.

We don’t know if it works. The study wasn’t properly blinded. Participants knew if they received placebo or treatment. The route of administration was also questionable—vaccines shouldn’t be injected into the glutes

Transfem enby visiting but wanted to ask a question to the transmasc/men
 in  r/ftm  10d ago

I see a lot of trans guys saying shit like that and honestly I think it’s so stupid. Like whenever there’s debate about “protecting women’s spaces” some trans guy posts a shirtless gym selfie saying “guess you want me in women’s restroom😜” and like,,, way to go dude you just found a way to make this about yourself and your abs! when really we should be talking about transmisogyny right now! Like this only diverts from the real issue, which is transphobia, and sort of tacitly affirms the idea that only people who pass deserve to use the restroom that they want.
