when to call a mascara quits?
 in  r/ProjectPan  3d ago

I always struggled to remember when I opened something, so now I toss mine 6 monthly. I open one for 1st Jan - 30th June, then toss it and open another for 1st July to 31st December. It works for me!

 in  r/MakeupRehab  3d ago

The first 2 weeks flew by, thanks to some travel and a big event. I'm happy with my progress on some items, but need to put in the work on others. With that in mind, my goal is to reach 10 uses on the moisturiser, and 15 on Chai Tea by next update 🀞

🌺 1) Dior Skin Glow foundation: Goal: Use 50x. Update 1: 9 uses. This is higher coverage than the Lauder Aqua Brilliance that I used in 10 by Spring, but I enjoy both for different reasons.

🌺 2) Dior Peach Petal blush: Goal: Use 50x. Update 1: 9 uses. I love this shade, but I have worked out that if I apply it before my liquid foundation dries, it doesn't look as good as it otherwise can. Operator error to blame here.

🌺 3) Covergirl Brow Pencil: Goal: Use 50x. Update 1: 7 uses. It's still a great product, but I use so little of it.

🌺 4) Burt's Bees balm in Chai Tea: Goal: Finish. Update 1: 4 uses. It has stayed really warm in Australia, so I haven't wanted to use lip products much.

🌺 5) Lancome Butterglow Pink Squad: Goal: Use 50x. Update 1: Used 8x. It is so lovely and possibly my favourite lip product ever.

🌺 6) LRP Effaclar cleanser: Goal is to finish. Update 1: 11 uses. I forgot how much I like this cleanser

🌺 7) LRP Effaclar moisturiser: Goal is to finish. Upsate 1: 6 uses. Really nice product, i'm enjoying it.

🌺 8) Cancer Council Hydrating sunscreen: Goal: Finish. Update: 1 use.

🌺 9) Raspberry Vanilla shower gel: Goal: Finish. Update: 9 uses, maybe 60% left? So tell me, why did I buy another shower gel yesterday?!?!

🌺 10) Nivea Cherry Blossom lotion: Goal: Use 25x. Update: 2 uses. I need to get cracking!

ACTIVITY 10 by Summer Update 1 🌻🌺🐝

Welcome back to the 10 by "Summer" project for Update 1! 🌞 Reading all the Intro posts was so much fun!

For anyone new, the project works like this: Choose any 10 items and pick a goal that you want to work towards by the end of the season. Anything beauty-related is fair game; makeup, haircare, skincare, fragrances, etc. Select your goals for this project: finishing an item (aka panning), hitting pan, reaching a usage goal, or even just testing an item out. 10 items is just a suggestion, though feel free to add however many you're comfortable with to make it work for you!

10 is just a suggestion, though feel free to add any number of items you like. Make it work for you!

This project started on the first day of spring, 21st March, and will run until June 20th. Feel free to join anytime. The more, the merrier! I'll post an update every two weeks: 🌼 18th Apr 🏡2nd May 🌺16th May 🐝30th May and finale on🐞 20th June.

Please let me know if you would like to be tagged as a reminder for when the updates come out. I'm new to hosting, so please bear with me while I learn the ropes. I've sent out all the reminders via message, so if you were expecting one and didn't get it, send me a message!

Myself &Β u/LeCocoMarΒ are running this project, so if you have any issues, please let us know!

I can see the change on the Colourpop one! The rest, I might need more time to notice :)

A little off topic but someone please help me find these suckers

Anecdotally, you'll find them ... in the bottom of every handbag and toiletries bag that I own. Don't ask me how.

Sounds like I'm already onto the winners, so I might stick with those 3! Thanks for sharing your lovely collection, enjoy!!!

Beautiful! I also have a larger collection of lip products so I get nervous about clean beauty like Tower 28, in case I don't use them in time. How do you find they go with longevity/expiry? And am I missing anything, formula-wise? I have (and love) the Laniege and the Ole Henrikson, and have a few Summer Fridays.

Battle of the Balms update 2:Β In 2024, all I wanted to wear was tinted lip balms. So, in 2025, I created a whole project of them. Suddenly, liquid lipsticks are looking very appealing. Ah well, they've all got to get used up anyway! I'm keen to make more of a concerted effort in April, and maybe focus on 2 or 3 items. Perhaps the Nivea, the fresh, and the Lancome. I'm enjoying all 3, and they are balmy enough to suit the changing weather.

Team Bougie:

1) Lancome Butterglow Balm in Pink Glow: 18 uses. This continues to be perfection, every time.Β

2) Chanel Rouge Coco Baume in My Rose: 11 uses. Undecided.Β

3) Clarins Oil in Balm in Pitaya: 49 uses. A lovely formula, in a fun summer colour. No regrets here, but perhaps a hiatus until Aussie spring?

4) fresh Sugar lip treatment in Rose: 14 uses. I'm still surprised at how much i'm enjoying this balm.

5) NARS Afterglow balm in Turbo: 5 uses. Another surprise packet, in that I love how a light layer looks. A sheer red really helps me look a little less zombie-like on video calls.Β

Team Budget:

6) NIVEA Hyaluron balm in Sheer Rose: 56 uses. This is so delightful to use.Β

7) L'OrΓ©al Glow Paradise in Rose Mirage: 2 use. I've earmarked this as more of a winter product.

8) Burt's Bees balm in Pink Blossom: 4 uses. This has dropped off my radar. I suppose that, with 9 products, it was inevitable? Also, please understand the absolutel manhandling it took to get this one back in his tube. I fear depotting is in my future. Either that, or I just wont roll it up for photos until the finale??

9) Colourpop Glowing Lip in Cockatoo: 32 uses. The thoughts have cemented: love the colour and the slim shape, don't love the waxy scent and formula.

Starting over
 in  r/AustralianMakeup  6d ago

  • Foundation: L'OrΓ©al True Match.

  • Concealer: Maybelline Age Rewind for light to medium cover, or L'OrΓ©al Infallible for high coverage.

  • Blush: Flower Beauty Flower Pots. So affordable, and so nice! Otherwise, another person recommended Essence, and I second that. Milani baked blushes are great if you want some glow.

  • Mascara: There's so many good ones, it just depends what you're into.

  • Lips: Revlon super lustrous lipsticks really solid, and there's a huge variety of shades. Otherwise, Maybelline Stay Matte Ink is a truly bulletproof liquid lipstick. L'OrΓ©al also has a good liquid lipstick. Milani bullet lipsticks are an Honourable Mention.

-Eyeshadow: Somewhat surprisingly, I am going a Morphe palette that I just picked up, and 9-pan in Forbidden Pulp Fantasy. It's cool toned, but there are other colour schemes to choose from.

  • Brushes: Flower Beauty is my top pic, especially their buffing brush, and concealer brush. Otherwise, Real Techniques.

I don't really use powder, bronzer, highlight or setting spray, so I will leave those categories to the experts that do!

I finally finished a thing!!! After weeks of nothing to report, this week I said goodbye to my Garnier Aloe Day Jelly gel moisturiser and I still can't decide how I feel about it. I had outbreaks of dermatitis around the same time, and I'm honestly not sure if it was just coincidental or related to this or my Fresh Soy Cleanser, which is also nearly done. Either way, i'm thrilled to have another moisturiser done. 2025 is the year of working through my Cleanser and moisturiser stash.

No empties yet again, and it's starting to drive me nuts!! I have maybe 1 or 2 uses left on Garnier gel moisturiser, but no luck finishing it in time for this update.

I have an eye cream, face wash, and a nail polish base coat that are getting very close. Fingers crossed.

I have been getting so much joy out of some older products

I'm excited to spend some time using my favourite makeup. This round, I've gone with 5 products I want to finish, and 5 with usage goals. The mission to whittle down my inflated supply of cleansers and moisturisers continues. Let's see how we go!

🌺 1) Dior Skin Glow foundation: Goal: Use 50x. I love this, and I want to give myself permission to use it.

🌺 2) Dior Peach Petal blush: Goal: Use 50x. This is a recent purchase, and again, this round is all about treating myself!

🌺 3) Covergirl Brow Pencil: Goal: Use 50x. Ideally, I'd like to finish this, but it might take more than 50 uses.

🌺 4) Burt's Bees balm in Chai Tea: Goal: Finish. This is a leftover from a lip product project. I love it, and I want to finish it.

🌺 5) Lancome Butterglow Pink Squad: Goal: Use 50x. An absolute favourite.

🌺 6) LRP Effaclar cleanser 50ml: Goal is to finish, from new.

🌺 7) LRP Effaclar moisturiser: Goal is to finish, from new.

🌺 8) Cancer Council Hydrating sunscreen: Goal: Finish. I have accumulated a few sunscreens and need a reminder to use them up before expiry.

🌺 9) Raspberry Vanilla shower gel: Goal: Finish. I've got to keep myself to 1 shower gel backup, so I don't revert back into the situation I was in during 2022, with 9 bottles...

🌺 10) Nivea Cherry Blossom lotion: Goal: Use 25x. Heaven knows I slack on moisturising if I don't have a goal!!
