I've been saying for far too long Tocchet needs to go, I'll keep saying it until it happens. Malhotra deserves the position, and I fully stand by believing he is the one who can finally bring this team together.

Switch 2 is $699 CAD
 in  r/NintendoSwitch  6d ago

Nintendo will, of course, be announcing an OLED Switch 2 in the future. Having a 4k screen would be future proofing the device, but that doesn't necessarily make them the most money. There are trade-offs to it, and having a lower resolution, but gaining a higher FPS with hdr and oled screen, that would be a solid path.

Some people say they wouldn't notice the difference in resolution, but I hear the same about FPS. Even on small screens like smartphones, a 4k display is an amazing difference. Now I genuinely am not sure how many people use their Switch to watch movies, shows, streams, etc. Yet 4k would be a huge deal for that. Giving more people an incentive to spend that kind of money on their device. Besides, speaking generally, you can't beat the sharper image.

4k isn't absolutely necessary at this time, but the majority play in handheld. I can guarantee there are much better handheld devices coming out. It's becoming quite the competitive market.

Yeah, I definitely mispoke on the 4k 60fps whilst undocked. Yet there are devices out there that are achieving a 4k LCD screen with 120hz+, so it's not far fetched to assume one of the biggest competitors in gaming who's sole focus has become a handheld style device. Would be able to compete, let alone come on par with devices in two years' time.

Instead, you will see a new version of the Switch 2 in a few years to bridge that massive gap they will be leaving. It's the same old marketing tactic. It's why they removed the oled screen because they will sell a new version later.

Except in no way does it justify the price. The device itself should be 4k, oled, 30fps. With the dock being 4k, 60fps. Alongside the option for 1080p, 120fps.

They are already falling behind, and the device isn't even out yet. As always with Nintendo, it will be a few years before the average consumer would buy a Switch 2. With the shift in modern gaming, the only way Nintendo will keep up (if they even care/need to do so) is if they release some of their best games they ever have.

What makes the price tag of the console and the games worth it? 1080p with 120fps, only 4k and 60fps when docked, a LCD screen, and 256gb of storage. Also, your existing micro SD cards won't work. For a total of $629 before taxes.

What am I missing? I can't see any justification for this price, especially based on recent years' reputation. I have to assume that they don't care to be in a competing market, and if someone wants Nintendo, they buy Nintendo. Except, even having the money, I don't think I'd willingly spend that kind of money on this device and its games. Even if I'm a lifelong fan.

Edit: i just realized it's not even in oled screen... Insane.

Canucks determined to sign Rick Tocchet to extension [Friedman]
 in  r/canucks  7d ago

I couldn't even begin to fathom why anyone would believe Hughes could legitimately speak for the entire team in that manner, when given no indication of such, especially when Hughes being the great captain he is; prasies every coach with similar language.

Listen to how he talks in his interviews. Hughes would never speak down on current coaching staff and likely even past coaching staff. So I'd personally not listen to the PR speeches and focus more on the chemistry of the team. The statistics, not the words.

Given Hughes' comments in the past, it wouldn't surprise me if he still showed praise towards Tocchet as well. Tocchet and Hughes are really good people who highly respect one another. Hughes always speaks very highly of Canucks coaching staff, even the ones no longer here. Hughes would not be the first franchise level player to have to see a favourite coach go.

One of the great things about Hughes is that he is all team driven. You see it in his interviews, and you especially see it on the ice every single game. He will adapt to any coach better than anyone on the Canucks roster. I have never seen Hughes as being selfish enough to want coaching staff to stick around if they aren't the best fit for the entire team.

This is a team sport, not an individual sport.

So if Foote is a good fit for Hughes, but not for the vast majority of the rest of the team. Whilst the head coach, Tocchet is not a good fit for anyone on the team. You believe it is better to keep Foote due to one player, even if it comes at the detriment to the rest of the team?

You also believe that one of the most humble and win focused players to ever grace the Canucks roster, would prefer to be on a team that continues to struggle and wastes more years of his career because he likes a coach?

If Foote is unwilling to part from Tocchet, in my opinion that should tell you that he doesn't have the needed passion to coach the Canucks. If you're not all in on the team, what's the point? Can't win the Stanley cup with coaching staff like that.

He was also an assistant coach for 7 years prior to that, more than proved himself, and still managed to find a position as an AHL head coach at a time when coaches were in abundance. Then exceeded expectations, and is very likely to go somewhere else if he doesn't get the head coach position for the Canucks. Also, consider that Tocchet only spent 5 seasons as an assistant coach before becoming a head coach, and prior to that, he already had multiple half-season runs as head coach.

They are not even close to Malhotra when it comes to being established in this franchise. Malhotra played multiple seasons with the Canucks, was a development coach, and our assistant coach for multiple seasons. If there is anyone with more experience in this franchise, it's him.

Hughes liking Adam Foote does not mean he doesn't want to see a shake-up in the coaching staff. He respects Foote immensely for his coaching style, and it has helped Hughes develop further. Yet a captain and player like Hughes knows that it's not about him. It's about who fits best with the whole team. If Foote wants to stick with Tocchet, then he will have much more trouble finding another position. Package deals don't work out so well anymore.

It's a much safer risk to go with someone established in the franchise, and the likelyhood of Hughes re-signing is drastically reduced with Tocchet still here. Why would he want someone who is unable to properly develop the core around him, when even if Tocchet extends, it's highly unlikely he would be here to see Hughes' next contract.

Going with someone who knows the players, has the drive, energy, and skill to propel the team forward is the only option for the Canucks to have any success in the long run. Malhotra has more than proven himself that even when the odds are stacked against him, he can still get his team to perform. If he is not offered the head coach position of the Canucks within 2-3 years, he will get it somewhere else guaranteed, and that will become one of the most regrettable decisions in franchise history.

I believe the best guarantee, even though I have a slight worry it is too early, would be Manny Malhotra. He has shown he is a very well-rounded coach who can truly drive a team in the right direction. It's seemingly clear that his desire is set on being head coach in the AHL, or NHL, and that assistant coach would not be back on the table for him.

Thankfully, he is already in Abbotsford, so it'd be important to wait until the off-season to see what other teams do with their coaching staff.

A woman gets angry after her blood testing kit labels her as "King Kong"

I think it's funny that common sense isn't so common. First of all, I gave TikTok as a source in regard to them denying the woman's story. If you looked at the link, that would be quite evident. Also, when I suggested that the person educate themselves again, I was very clearly speaking on the fact that they don't fully understand the field. Others have already refuted their claim as well.

What a shocker, management, and ownership strive for mediocrity... Enjoy several more years of losing, and wasting away some of the best players the Canucks will ever have. Whilst ownership continues to raise ticket prices and cut off options for those in the middle class and below.

Hughes re-signing to this never-ending dumpster fire is a long shot. Tocchet is their puppet. Canucks ownership and management will do anything to keep that control. Nothing will change until Tocchet is gone, and a new coach is left to do their job.

I'm tired of going in circles with this team. It's the same thing every season. I can't fathom how anyone could possibly look at how this team plays and not notice how Tocchet is the main factor in their horrible playing. No synergy, no strategy, just chaos. I'll continue to say it; a good coach can pull a bad team together, but a team with a bad coach will never be good.

Well, you're wrong. Also, however you conjured up that assumption, I suggest educating yourself again. It's quite inappropriate to dismiss this as fake.

Losing Tocchet will be terrible for this club
 in  r/canucks  8d ago

Tocchet has not been able to elevate players to play more minutes. That's actually another area of weakness for him. Whether you want to look at something more recent like Lekkermaki or in the long term, like his handling of our star players' ice time when his vision is not being shown on the ice. Even if that comes with the cost of losing a game.

The powerplay is most certainly on Tocchet. He is the head coach, and he is responsible for ensuring the team can compete to their highest potential. He is a one scheme coach who refuses to adapt. You either fit to his chaos system, or you're left in the dust to struggle. Hence why the players who tend to shine the most on the Canucks, are the one man army.

This is far from a perfect team, but it is one who should have no reasons struggling in the ways they have been. A good coach can pull a bad team together. If you have a bad coach, you'll never have a good team. A team with a complete lack of synergy only comes from a bad coach.
