‘We need to stop the bleeding:’ Grand Rapids hit by wave of restaurant closures
 in  r/grandrapids  Mar 05 '25

More people from the city need to visit other places that have transformed streets into pedestrian only vibrant city centers. Anywhere from Denver with its cable car only streets with even more vendors and pedestrian lounge areas since you no longer need the middle lane, to Kensington Market in Toronto, to downtown Northville or heck even Rockford. I’d rather bike up to Rockford on a dedicated bike path and be spit out in the heart of a walkable downtown than bike to downtown Grand Rapids.

Things To Do In Creston?

Really wish we could’ve had a Lantern in Creston! Even though Max wasn’t officially in Creston, we sorely miss Lotus Brew in the neighborhood.

Reposting with some additions:

I recommend joining the CNA newsletter (you don’t have to pay for a membership) and checking out some other great Creston staples including

-2RST: (Not food) Clothing store with bagged coffee and events

-Black Cat Bodega: (Not Food) metaphysical supply shop, check it out even if it’s not your jam. You might find something interesting.

-Mizzizi: Birria tacos, burritos, and fusion food

-Ikers Tacos: Formally La Huasteca, a Creston staples

-Gaia: Vegetarian restaurant with a lounge and limited coffee bar

-Sparrows: Coffee shop attached to Kingmas market

-Rez Lounge: Darkly lit bar with gumbo and other southern inspired food

-Graydons Crossing: British pub with weekend brunch

-Choo choo grill: Closing soon, but a testament to old vintage diners

-The Good Good Good: Natural wine bar and flower shop with immaculate vibes

-New City Cafe: Open on Thursdays in the summer, serves pizza and baked goods while supporting kids and urban farming in your community

-River North Public House: Cute interior with pub food and full bar

-Arcane Pizza: open for lunch and dinner on limited hours but unique pizzas and homemade beer-a-misu

-Quickwater coffee: Across from Creston Brewery, a coffee shop with great seats for people watching

-616 Kebab: A little farther north, close to Kingmas, Mediterranean food

-Switchback Gear Exchange: Kava, bar, bluegrass, open mics, keep an eye on their socials for all their happenings. Super cool people and vibes.

-Nourish Kitchen: They do ready to deliver meals, but have pop ups at their physical location on Thursday and Fridays with a rotating menu. They’ve done burgers, Mexican, fish fry, and Asian inspired popups.

And coming soon:

-Fika : A gluten free and vegetarian restaurant opening soon in the neighborhood!

-Food Truck Fridays: A regular summer festival at Riverside Park featuring Grand Rapids finest food trucks

-Creston Farmers Market: Details to be announced

Yes! I meant formerly , when they reopened they decided to change their name as a tribute for their son who passed away.

So sudden, they didn’t announce this ahead of time for staff and anyone who might have wanted to go one last time. They pulled in a lot of foot traffic. I imagine the nearby businesses will be impacted heavily.

They also hosted the CNA pancake breakfast and the indoor artisan market for Lights on Creston. Such a shame for what I had considered a staple in the Creston neighborhood.

Really any parent that thinks it’s fun or cute to let their kids terrorize animals as if they’re lesser beings. For some reason some parents think it’s totally ok to let their kids scare / bully birds.

River City currently has no waitlist for adult autism testing. Hopefully you’ve hit your deductible because the cost is expensive

Yeah I don’t have mine anymore but Talen said LaGrand is all talk , no action.

To be fair, LaGrand’s accomplishments in the past two years didn’t blow me out of the water, but I understand two years isn’t a lot of time for big change

Apart from some reddit threads and this news article, I don’t really have much to go on for either.

I’ve heard good and bad things about both candidates. What’s your personal opinion on either candidate ?

I’m guessing it’s a plumbing company but it could also apply to a downtown coffee shop of the chocolate variety. It could be any number of businesses.
