(Sad trope) when a character’s death precedes a decline in the quality/popularity of the show
 in  r/TopCharacterTropes  3h ago

The sad part is it could have worked if they put more work into showing how what Joel did fucked Abby's life up. Maybe if the prologue was longer and we got to see everything fall apart for her instead of just being told about it, people would have responded better. Also felt like they played favorites in a weird way with Abby as well.

Ellie: "She was pregnant?! Oh no!"

Abby: "She's pregnant?! That'll make murdering her EVEN BETTER."

What?

What really fucks me up is there are some GOOD episodes in there that let Jodie portray a really faithful yet unique version of the doctor.

It really was just the writing.

EDIT: It was the haunted house episode I was thinking of. It was written by Maxine Alderton.

It took Baby-Woo hundreds (maybe even thousands) of deaths to get past himself. Don't even bother bringing him up.

Racism? Sure, but I hadn't heard about the eugenics. Lemme read this shit...

Why do people hate so much the concept of a race/species that is simply evil in nature?
 in  r/CharacterRant  2d ago

Humanity has spread to the stars and splintered over the course of thousands of years, with each world superpower colonizing a different part of the galaxy. They run into the Cielcin, who are a huge problem because they are MONSTROUS assholes. Be warned. It gets pretty fucked up in the middle.

I think a really good example of this is the Celcin from the Sun Eater series. They are probably one of the most evil-presenting races I've seen put to page. What makes it stand out though is that the author puts in work to show just how far removed they are from the human experience. One part that sticks with me is an attempt at negotiating with them. They responded to an explanation of the idea of "cooperation," which they have no word for in their own language, with a level of disgust humans reserve for extreme sexual perversion.

Energy drink/beer that was outlawed in the US. It turns out making people drunk, reducing their inhibitions, AND giving them a shitload of extra energy was a bad idea.

What motivates the female sexual predator who offends underage males and what specifically triggers the reward response of the predator when they offend?
 in  r/psychologyofsex  4d ago

So testosterone doesn't make people more violent, but rather less inhibited? Mind sharing where you learned that? I'm not disputing your point, mind you, I've just never heard that before.

[SSS-Class Revival Hunter] We got Indian racism getting international recognition before gta 6
 in  r/manhwa  7d ago

I've only just recently learned about this myself, those in higher castes generally have lighter skin tones, while those in lower castes generally have darker skin tones. I once heard that the CEO of a large company was not allowed to stay at a hotel owned by an Indian because the Indian in question viewed the CEO as being of a lower caste because they were a bit on the darker side.

Your Month = Your Ring + Sword Combo 💍🗡️

2x? Oh no. It would be AT LEAST a 5x multiplier. Plus manipulating various different materials and "material manipulation" are not the same thing, so there wouldn't be any synergies.

June is probably the strongest since the two actually synergize with each other. Multiplicative power increase and whatnot.

Loneliness Epidemic? Or Loser Epidemic?
 in  r/TikTokCringe  10d ago

I heard about this somewhere before. Because it's somewhat common for men to not really open up about their emotions until they find a significant other, that means that they don't really know how to be emotionally vulnerable. Rather than letting the vulnerability trickle out in a manageable way, like some have learned how to, it's a dam bursting with emotions and frustrations that have built up over years, or even a lifetime.

NOBODY wants to deal with that.

Why is Fenrir's Chosen not exclusive to capes?
 in  r/Parahumans  11d ago

Generally speaking, I don't think people consider Parahumans to be too different from baseline humans, at least before the appearance of Case 53s. Nazi parahumans might consider themselves the "first among equals" type. Baseline humans are part of the arian race, but parahuman arians have the right to lead or rule because they were... well... chosen.

Plus there aren't really enough parahumans for them to go full Magneto just yet.
