This is a video I saw on these things a while ago. They're supposed to be ergonomic to the extreme and people like putting alternate keyboard layouts on them which is why you don't see any of the keys labeled. If I remember correctly the main benefit is that the keyboard is designed to minimize movement. I think you had to grow up with it, but there definitely are more unique mature themes that come up every so often.
