Trump denies engineering market sell-off, says you have to "take medicine"
Something something let them eat cake blah blah blah
Because this guy has learned nothing from any kind of history whatsoever.

Help! 3 weeks out and barely weight bearing. Is that normal(ish)?
Any insight into why you aren't weight bearing on that side? At every step of the way, I have had to consciously focus on weight bearing, walking heel-toe, using a soft knee vs locked out when stepping down etc.
I was using the walker for 4 weeks and cane for 2 but I was weight bearing. I was using it mostly for stability.

CMV: The hands off protest will do nothing to stop or even slow Trump, and will largely accomplish nothing.
Offering a bit of a "yes, and" to this - I do think that the Tea Party, for better or worse, had a pretty effective playbook. It did a few key things that by all accounts led to early success and influenced where we are today. To your point, could it have kept going without Trump? Doubtful. At the same time, could Trump have been successful without the Tea Party > QAnon snowball effect? I also doubt this.
The things I think the Tea Party did well were:
- Gave really pissed off people a way to channel their frustrations. That has been happening with the various progressive marches in 2017 and yesterday. However, they also...
- Stuck to a limited number of talking points. This is what I think has been missing with the demonstrations from the progressive side: everyone's got a beef with everything (rightfully so) and that's difficult to summarize. Finally, where they really made progress was...
- Running their candidates in local/state elections and against Republicans deemed "not conservative enough" across the country. As a result, this movement was largely credited with the swing in the 2010 elections and starting the momentum we have seen since then in various elections.
The thing is that these folks played the long game. The protests got attention from social media, their talking points got pulled into and amplified by the conservative media; the organizers got people aligned and helped formulate their gripes into short list of a handful of tangible complaints. As they gained momentum, I'd argue that they influenced the Republican party more than meaningfully contributing to any effective national discourse as I also view them as one of the foundational reasons we're so polarized now.
So going back to u/callmejeremy0's original perspective: will yesterday's protests really do anything to change Trump's behavior? Of course not. Trump doesn't give a damn about much other than himself. However, if this energy can be channeled, the litany of complaints expressed yesterday can coalesce into brief, meaningful and actionable talking points, and media (social and otherwise) can amplify the message, this could have a significant impact on getting the Democrats unstuck.

First trip back to water aerobics today
Thank you so much! I have racing school on may 1-2 and i know itβs really going to challenge me. I will be able to drive but i am sure it is going to be a big test of my endurance. I have a brace I can wear that I find gives good support and of course my ice machine will be my bffβ¦i have been pleased that every two weeks i get another bump up. I will be at 14 weeks and realized yesterday I just need to keep training even if I graduate from PT this week.

Millions of honeybees are dying β and no one is sure why
Linking to a comment I made last weekend on a similar thread. It's from a hobbyist beekeeper's perspective. There is no new information that's come out about the deaths, however, the spike in colony thefts hit the mainstream news this week. It's been a problem for quite awhile and organizations are attempting to combat it. https://beeculture.com/commercial-beekeepers-launch-new-program-to-address-hive-theft/

I would love it if the Crones of the group could share a piece of wisdom
Thanks for sharing this memory. <3 It's a rather long speech to memorize! It sounds like your dad had a good handle on what was important.
I first learned of it from the incomparable Brene Brown and I really dug into it about 5 years ago when I was the first woman to qualify for a high profile event in a male-dominated sport. I had to get myself in the mindset that it would be ok if I failed (and it turns out I did), but you know what? My ass was in that arena.

The way I have heard this: Don't set yourself on fire to keep others warm". That one finally got through to me.

My dad used to counsel, discretion is the better part of valor. It's been a lifelong effort for me and I'm not sure I'll ever be done.

First trip back to water aerobics today
Excellent advice, thank you. I was doing a lot of modifications and the instructor kept looking at me to make sure I wasn't overdoing too. My knee isn't bad today, just crabby but quiets with Tylenol.

2 months and experiencing sharp pains around knee
My PT told me that this is just all part of our bodies (nerves, muscles and fascia) figuring it all out. This, too, shall pass. For the past couple of weeks I have had a zinger that happens right on top of my kneecap and it's annoying. Before that it was a zinger radiating up the top of my shin.

My wife took this amazing photo after we had just extracted a frame.
I am too and I am incredibly impressed that you're extracting already!!! You're right on time - the spring show is happening at the end of the month: https://gabeekeeping.com/event-5447242
Edited to add that I thought they were doing a full show this time around but it looks like it's only peoples' choice. Let me find the fall event and I'll reply here.

Please allow Sara to have a positive result from her job interview on Friday, helping her to back away from this financial cliff she's facing.

SMIB, especially the good nights sleep. We've gotta have the energy reserves intact to tackle and appreciate the other things. <3

I am very worried about the situation in our country and in many others around the world.
Can we please put our energy into guiding our leaders: may they stand up against tyranny for what is right, protect people and our environment, and bring peace to this troubled world. By extension, may those those who follow these leaders become enlightened, have the veils fall from their eyes, and raise their voices and take action against what is happening as well.

Afraid TKR is getting close... were you advised to go off Celebrex before surgery?
I was; I suspect it's probably dictated on a surgeon by surgeon basis. I wasn't looking forward to that either, but I survived for the week or so they wanted me off of it beforehand. They gave me a big (double IIRC) dose the day of surgery put me back on 200 mg the day after surgery. I'm still on it and I notice a difference if I miss a day.

Our state has a honey competition as part of one of the two statewide meetings held per year. In addition to honey, people can enter food, beverages, crafts, and photography. This could be an award-winning photo, I think. You should see if your state (?) does the same and consider entering it.

Bee hive in the walls.
Agree this is a great thing to hang on to.
u/Dry-Huckleberry-4336 do you mind posting back up how this all resolves? I'm sorry your friend is going through this but it's a valuable learning experience for others.

LTKR Blog: Day +39 (5 1/2 Weeks): PT Day Off, Sleep Experiment (CBD)
Stairs were and still kind of are tough. The 6β PT stair was too hard for me to start so she started me on a 4β platform. She told me to do higher reps on the lower platform to get the benefit.
For home practice, I grabbed a step aerobics platform that begins at 4β and can go up from there. It has made a difference, I think. Regular stairs are getting easier through all of this practice and I am to the point that when I am not tired, I can go up and down holding on with one hand. The 4β height is also perfect for my calf stretches.

I have a Breg compression and the ONLY thing I'd change with it is that on the sleeve where I fasten the velcro, it's worn out and the velcro doesn't stick anymore. It's easily enough managed by wrapping the ace bandage I wore home from surgery around it. The problem is in the loops because the hooks stick everywhere else. I purchased it last July.
