Tell me a local food you will not eat that everyone else loves?
 in  r/Hawaii  1d ago

Pho. The noodles remind me of those intestinal parasites that look like worms.

What are the best and worst Hawaii brands?
 in  r/Hawaii  2d ago

I like their reusable shopping bags - I send them to my friends on the mainland because they're so local. I sent a reusable bag showing the breakdown of a musubi to my niece who moved to the East Coast. She was so happy. A little bit of home brings a smile.

I send Foodland chips, kaki mochi, candies, mochi mix to make at home, etc.

On another note, I like that you can buy individual stalks of celery instead of having to buy the whole bunch when you only need a few.

Mr Donuts Vanished?
 in  r/Hawaii  4d ago

On the technical side, Dept. Of Commerce and Consumer Affairs says that the business is not in good standing. Usually that just means they didn't file their annual filing for this year. Could also be something else. Owner is William Burgos. Public record.

are flippers finished on Oahu?

I don't watch the show. Are you saying that they applied for permits then went ahead and had the improvements done before the permits were approved?

It must have been Elon! 🤷‍♀️
 in  r/antitrump  14d ago

I especially hate when he does this leaning thing when he's standing at a podium. It's like stand up straight like the rest of the world does.

So disappointed
 in  r/FBIMostWantedTV  14d ago

I loved all three and am sad to see two of them go. I much prefer them over the Chicago franchise. We'll see what the new FBI: CIA will bring and what characters get shifted around.

Cheap eats
 in  r/Hawaii  15d ago

Sadly, buffets would make a killing off of me since I prefer eating small as opposed to stuffing myself blind. Even a mini anything is too much and I end up splitting it in half.

Unpopular opinion....? Enjoyed Season 1 more than I'm enjoying Season 2.
 in  r/ElsbethTVSeries  18d ago

I take the show for what it is. I liked both seasons and see no difference in either. Elsbeth is just as lovingly kooky and smart. Plus I love her costume designer as I look forward to each episode to see what she's wearing.

Cancelled. 😢

I love Remy Scott. The show would go downhill no matter who takes the lead. Jess was too soft.

Cancelled. 😢
 in  r/FBIMostWantedTV  21d ago

I was sad to see Jess die and didn't care for Remy at first. But while Jess was more of a down to earth father, Remy gave it no nonsense grit. I liked his bad guy character on Law and Order Organized Crime. Barnes is a weak leader.

Who approved this??? With the benefit of hindsight knowing what’s now happening on Beretania, is this really the best intersection to have a drive-thru-oriented store??
 in  r/Hawaii  Mar 06 '25

Thank you for mentioning that. I thought it'd be removed if I mentioned it the way the mods have been so nit picky lately.

Spoiled bratty coward.

Sorry kids. No milk this week.
 in  r/Hawaii  Mar 02 '25

I agree. But that's only because they have more international food. I only go there to buy Finlandia or German butter and they have better yogurt choices. I also go to Foodland to support the local chain.

I'm attending a wedding in Portland Oregon next month. But I've now included a stay in Vancouver BC to show my support. Can't wait!

Best US city to relocate if seeking Filipino community?
 in  r/FilipinoAmericans  Mar 02 '25

I'm Filipino and I live in Hawaii but here I have never called myself Asian. I just say I'm Filipino.

Also, I agree that the term "Hawaiian" should be reserved for indigenous Hawaiians. Unless I have Hawaiian blood in me I will never say I'm Hawaiian.

Why are Filipinos toxic?

What does that mean, the less Filipinos the better?

Well my husband just lost his job because of Trump.
 in  r/antitrump  Mar 01 '25

Three years and eleven months can't come fast enough. If the idiot-in-chief thinks he can add a third term then we can hope to bring Obama back in for a third too.

Another E-bike Incident
 in  r/Hawaii  Mar 01 '25

Kids weaving in and out of traffic, running red lights and popping wheelies on e-bikes in busy traffic with no regard to traffic is dangerous.

JD reminds me of L Boebert trying to sound intelligent but everyone knows they're not.

Who is the idiot reporter asking President Zelenskyy why he is not dressed as a president (something along those lines).

Which country that you've visited has the nicest people?
 in  r/AskReddit  Feb 28 '25

Not if you're non-white. I was born and raised in Hawaii and I am Asian. I went to North Carolina with friends (two more Asians and a white woman). We drove around the rural areas and I had to use the restroom. I stopped by a roadside Mart and asked to use the restroom. White woman said it wasn't working. My white friend asked the same person a little later and all of a sudden it was a working restroom. However, the people we were visiting were so gracious and wonderful. There's always a pocket of hate somewhere.

Are most people clueless to personal finance & investment returns?
 in  r/Bogleheads  Feb 28 '25

I'm clueless. I don't need a place like this to rub it in.
