Ill keep that in mind and keep it minimal.

Can never be too prepared and even one or two things can make a difference. Thanks, I'll try.

Yeah, I've been on carriers where you wouldn't even know you were on the water if you didn't go outside. Just saw a couple videos of cruises smack dab in the middle of a storm getting blown around and it got me thinkin. Preciate it and will do!

Right. I am not saying I need a full-on bug-out bag in the middle of the ocean but something like a small med/aid kit and ration bar will keep my mind at ease in an emergency.

I probably won't go as far as a case of water but I will keep that in mind. Thank you.

A good list. A small first aid and medicine kit with one ration bar and water along with IDs seems to be good enough.

Starlink is on my list to get. Way to convent to not have.

You went out for Covid? Where did you go?

True. Anything is usually better than nothing. Great job nonetheless.

That's why I want to move to a more community-driven area. To be around some people I can trust enough to handle things like that.

Yeah, I'm an inner-city type. It's usually every person for themselves and not much community, unfortunately. I guess that's why my mind thinks like that.

The 30-day thing is a good point. When would you suggest going from bug-in to out in that situation?

Oh, I'll definitely be doing a full egress walkthrough shortly after boarding. I'd feel out of place if I could find my way around the ship. Thanks.

So just the usual hygiene-type things. I'll be sure to stock up. Thanks!

Ha, well I've spent a long time on ships so it's not exactly something I feel the need to avoid. I'm just so used to everything needed being at the ready and provided by the ship. I'm not sure if cruises are that well-equipped.

You fly, I buy? 3FLT Smallboy Pingjockey. Might have heard you skulking around somewhere you weren't supposed to be.

Gear🎒 Cruise Prepping

I will be going on a 4-day cruise next Spring. With me being prior Navy and an avid prepper, as well as all the news about cruises getting caught in big storms, I feel as though I should take some added precautions.

Are there any ideas, strategies, or items that you believe I should have or keep in mind for this trip?

What if you've prepared for 6 months and 99% of the others didn't?

The grey man is the rule I live by. No one comes looking for the one they think has nothing.

I don't think OP is really talking about a full economic collapse situation. I think it is more of a "Everyone hates the US so the dollar's power has tanked" situation. In which case, I would consider diversifying currencies to be a good avenue.

Though, skills and trades are always a good idea regardless of event.

Yeah but when does it go from free-for-all to dire preservation? I'm all for community sharing but If you are known as the neighborhood prepper, some people will get into a "They're doing it for us" mindset. It's kind of hard to walk that back when things get rough.

I thoroughly enjoy prepping. It's like a puzzle trying to prepare for as many things as possible while keeping spending to a reasonable level. The prize for beating the puzzle is the added peace that comes with being adequately prepared.

I think I am going to take a day to print out a couple of my digital libraries and stick them in spiral binders for this very reason.

Second on a phone with Kiwix.

I have a spare phone whose sole purpose is to hold Kiwix Libraries that I keep in a Faraday bag. Much more practical in a situation where electricity is scarce.

Yeah, I could see the constant vibrations degrading it much faster than usual.
