About to do my first driving test in Raheny, any tips please send me way!
 in  r/Irishdrivingtest  6d ago

Did mine last Friday at 2 pm and I parked here https://maps.app.goo.gl/gv2keWiF1mYeC6mT6?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy but I faced the roundabout at all saints road instead of all saints drive. That road was packed with cars parked on both left and right. Save yourself that hassle squeezing in and fighting your way out of it. There was a learner car who went through that way and he gave way to many cars that he was sitting there for a while. Tester said that isn’t the right way to do it as both cars have right of way. I passed btw I got Paul as my tester very nice lad. All the best!

Test centres passing rates
 in  r/Irishdrivingtest  7d ago

I failed my first time at dun laoghaire despite doing my lessons there and test centre having relatively high pass rate. I am fairly familiar with the routes but still failed. Perhaps it was the nerves and/or the road conditions that day.

However, I snagged a cancellation in raheny which has lower pass rate but I pass there and only did one lesson on the day of my test. I’m calmer and more confident this time. I also wasn’t familiar with this route so I was taking my time doing manoeuvres such as turning cos I’m not sure what the new road will look like and I was really focused on speed limit signs popping at every new turn I make.

I didn’t get mark for progress on straight or for speed. Maybe it also boils down on how busy the road is and obviously the nerves on test date.

This happened to me every time I click check waiting list it directs me to this page. I called RSA and they said I am on the queue according to their system. Might be worth giving them a ring to confirm.

Is €100 a standard price for a two-hour driving lesson?
 in  r/Irishdrivingtest  26d ago

For manual lesson I pay for 50 per hour in Dublin. However, if I buy say 12 lessons in one go it can be around 47.

Opinions on Newtown Gardens Apartments (Blackrock)
 in  r/RentingInDublin  Mar 02 '25

Can’t say about the apartment itself but I live around the area. Definitely very safe. DART is reliable and not sure if it’s near for you but there are also bus 4/7/7A that takes you to town fairly quickly and very reliable.

Traffic can be bad tho especially on peak times.

Well with slacking the fitness requirements for Garda the likelihood of one running after you is getting slimmer (no pun intended)

Because they can be on stamp 4 or in other words considered as permanent resident who has been paying taxes for a long time. Social welfare for non European citizens requires a minimum contribution of PRSI before they are eligible.
