Very good numbers analysis. It's not the guns (duh), it's not even poverty (this surprised me). It's fatherless boys.
Both sides live in a bit of a fantasy world sometimes.
The anti-gunners live in a fantasy where criminals all follow the law and passing an AWB and universal background checks make 400+ million guns already in circulation magically disappear and everyone safer.
The pro-lifers live in a fantasy where every unwanted child is adopted into a loving home or irresponsible people who would make terrible parents magically just practice abstinence or use birth control every time that is 100% effective.
Both sides are delusional. I prefer to deal in reality.

Kamala is worse than Trump for 2A
Sure, I agree absolutely. I can’t believe anyone would think otherwise. That said, I’m still not voting for Trump. Never have, never will. But I mostly likely won’t for Kamala either.
I will probably vote libertarian again like I did in the last two elections. I’m not a libertarian, it’s just the least offensive option. I’d probably vote for almost any non-MAGA Republican, but not Trump or any of his minions.
I won’t bother listing the reasons why, they’ve all been said 1000 times before. Don’t bother trying to gaslight with the whole bullshit “mean tweets” narrative.
I don’t vote for mentally ill, malignant narcissists and pathological liars, no matter how well they claim to represent my interests. I can’t. I have a conscience and I’m just not as good at throwing up blinders and pretending not to see things as some people seem to be.
I’m just looking forward to this whole cancerous era in American politics being over soon.

Survey Shows Harris and Walz Out of Step With Americans on Right to Carry
It feels that way because it’s not as big of an issue for most Americans as the gun control lobby would like us all to believe. Especially when people can’t afford to buy groceries or pay the rent.
But don’t be surprised if we magically have a serious mass shooting before the election. 🙄

Fatherless boys don’t do as well regardless of race. We all know the statistics with regard to race, but there is no point in bringing them up unless your about to propose some Final Solution or sending all black folks to live in Liberia so maybe give it a rest.

Step two: Ensure access to safe and legal abortion in all 50 states.
Do any of you really believe that restricting access to abortion is going to lead to FEWER fatherless children who become ne’er do wells and criminals?
Before you talk about adoption, there are already too many kids in the system who need parents but won’t be adopted. Most parents only want a newborn, non-black baby.
The unwanted 7 year old black boy isn’t getting adopted, he’s bouncing around foster homes until he’s 17 or 18. That’s if he’s lucky enough to escape his fucked up fentanyl addicted mother and her boyfriend who burns him with cigarette butts.

Yup. Guns do make inner city violence more deadly, but I’ll be damned if I’m giving up a single right because of what someone else “might do”

A Bombshell Report Revealed One Billionaire is Funding a National Attack on Gun Rights
It makes sense. With the state the country is in, it’s not hard to imagine things starting to fall apart in the next 20-30 years. When that happens, it’s definitely in the best interest of billionaires for the commoners to be as disarmed as possible.
That applies to the Orange Messiah too, boys.

Yeah the doesn’t look like a conspiracy to me. Just typical Google fail. These guys have to constantly come up with “conspiracies” to get clicks and engage viewers. This is no different. Much ado about nothing. 🙄

Israel forces hit an ambulance with wounded mother and daughter inside
Funny how 99% of this could have avoided if Hamas had not done what they did on Oct 7th and continue to hold hostages.
I’m not saying the Israelis are right. I’m saying this outcome was the most predictable fucking thing in the world.
Anyone who thinks Hamas didn’t know that this was EXACTLY what would happen is ignorant.
So Hamas holds, at minimum 50% of the blame for everything that has happened since Oct 7th. They wanted this because they’d rather innocent Palestinians die to prove some point or ignite a wider jihad in the region than to accept some two state solution.
So be it. If they think they’ll win they are fools. Israel will not stop. There’s no version of this that ends in “from the river to the sea”. It will end in a funeral pyre. Such a shame.

What if the U.S. abolished political parties and each candidate had to run on the issues alone?
I’m in favor of voter ID and the federal holiday to vote.
But I have a I disagree with you on the implication of they’re being widespread cheating and fraud—if you mean what I think you mean by that.
There isn’t a shred of evidence that there was any cheating or fraud remotely on the level where it could have affected the outcome of the 2020 election.
That exists only in Donald Trumps head because his ego is so fragile he literally could not accept the reality of the loss and he is so self-centered and selfish that he didn’t give a single shit that making baseless accusations like that and undermining voter confidence in our elections a literally an existential threat to our democracy.
No hyperbole. I’m dead serious.
When shit like that metastasizes, it can collapse an empire from within. It’s the most dangerously irresponsible thing Trump ever did and one of the most dangerously irresponsible and dishonest things ANY American president has ever done. Period. He has sewn a seed of cyanide in our body politic.
I just hope I misunderstood you and that’s not what you mean.

What if the U.S. abolished political parties and each candidate had to run on the issues alone?
Interesting theory. Can you elaborate on why you feel that would happen?
What is it about the GOP existing that helps them win elections their candidates would otherwise lose as independents?
Why would the progressive politicians not be disadvantaged in the same way by losing the Democratic Party apparatus?
I think one of the unexpected outcomes would be that the politicians themselves would change too. Without a party holding all the power they wouldn’t be forced to mirror the exact party platform on every issue.
I think that might benefit conservative candidates more than progressives because Republicans are much more in lock-step with the GOP now than Democrat politicians are with their party. The GOP keeps them on a shorter leash.
With the leashes and collars gone, I’d argue you would have a lot less black and white positions out there. You’d get a dozen shades of gray more.
Conservatives would be safe to move further left on some issues to appeal to their local constituents more. I think you would see a lot less enthusiasm about pro-life legislation, for example.
The conservative politicians wouldn’t be forced to wear that millstone around their necks in states or districts where it’s not popular.
Just like not every current Democrat politician is pro-Hamas, pro-“defund the police” and legalization or heroin, not every Republican wants to make abortion illegal in all 50 states, require prayer in schools and make it illegal it be LGBTQ+.
The truth is that most voters are in the middle zone — not the fringes.
My idea takes a lot of the power away from the extremist “base” on BOTH sides which keep getting more extreme. THAT is what’s tearing America apart right now.
I don’t know how old you are, but politics in the U.S. have not always been this extreme and hyperbolic. Just go back before 2000 or so. Democrats and Republicans used to be more civil to one another. They actually partnered up on things.
No one was driving around lifted pickup trucks in giant caravans flying dopey ass flags and trying to run campaign busses off the road. No one was becoming estranged with their entire families or friends because of who they voted for.
Yeah some people hated Reagan intensely. Some people hated George W. Bush too. But I didn’t really see the hate metastasizing and people start to go full retard until Obama got elected.
That event combined with the rising importance and influence of social media at the time and the latent, pent up racism that it ignited just set the barn on fire.
Then Trump showed up and started pissing gasoline all over it and here we are.
This can’t be the new normal. If we don’t reverse this trend then it’s eventually going to cause the country to implode in slow motion.

Do you not understand that people are complex and so is history?
If you want to discount every idea or concept from anyone who ever owned slaves, then you still have some growing up to do. You’re under 30 I’m assuming.
Wait until you learn more about history in proper context and experience more of the world and maybe revisit that in 10 years.
See if you till think we should ignore everything ever said or created by a slave owner and topple all their monuments and replace them with statues of George Floyd and Ismail Haniyeh 🙄
1
What if the U.S. abolished political parties and each candidate had to run on the issues alone?
How do you figure? Why do you think it would necessarily benefit existing Democrats more than Republicans?
What if people started thinking for themselves and looked at each individual issue on its own instead of doing what most Americans do now — which is to just pick a side and then go all-in on its entire platform or just become a one issue voter?
I’m asking too much, I know. Expecting most Americans to be educated with the facts on 20-30 major issues and decide their position on each on their own.
It’s a lot easier to just believe the slanted party line from either party and let them tell us what to think. That’s why it’s what most of us do.
The other way is hard. I know because it’s what I do. It causes me to challenge my own ideas and assumptions. It makes me see things from other people’s point of view. It can be uncomfortable and even exhausting at times.
But, I think if even 30-50% of regular voters did that, it would transform the country for the better.
Especially if we had NO political parties.
Even if we had 9-10 parties, they would have to cooperate and form coalitions to get anything done. That’s how it is in much of Europe.
The system we have now sucks more than ever. Democrats and Republicans don’t work together at all anymore.
All they do is try to portray the other as the literal Antichrist and undermine their power and cockblock their authority. That’s why there’s so much gridlock in DC.
If we continue down the road we’re on now, it’s not going to end well dude. (See: Idiocracy)

What if the U.S. abolished political parties and each candidate had to run on the issues alone?
I love the idea of ranked choice voting actually.
What if we made the formation of political parts and PACs strictly illegal and limited campaign contributions to $1000 per person or organization per year and made it illegal for companies or unions to coerce their workers into donating to a particular candidate.
Ugh… I hate that I’m theoretically passing a bunch of laws there though. But you get my intent I’m sure.
