EE VS Math Co-op/Job Prospects
 in  r/uwaterloo  1d ago

If you are smart and driven take Math, if you aren’t then take EE. Btw EE to CE transfer is very simple. CS transfers are RIP. And AFAIK, to go from ECE to CA you have 2 (main) options:

  1. ECE -> SE -> CS
  2. ECE -> Math -> CS

In the first case, the transfer to SE is super hard, the transfer to math isn’t nearly as bad. And in both cases the transfer to CS and very very hard and you should absolutely not make a decision banking on the transfer happening.

Bro just salty because he couldn’t get a job. Buddy, you are presumably a US citizen right?

Imagine being so shit that your own country chooses to import foreign talent rather than employ “one of their own”.

Get off Reddit and hit the books loser.

CS or CE major ?
 in  r/csMajors  1d ago

I don’t think it matters. Ur degree gets u at most as far as your first job. Frankly less in todays world. Especially with degrees that are both technical the difference is minimal. Take what you like more, and if u don’t care between the 2 take CS.

Why would anyone wanna go into CS?
 in  r/OntarioUniversities  1d ago

Cuz people are stupid, value status more than logic, and like to think that they will be 1 of the few exception case

what to do the summer before undergrad
 in  r/csMajors  1d ago

You will work on projects. You will learn CS. You will LC. But let me tell you as, one of the highest leverage things you can do for your career is just having a life.

Develop some hobbies, and spend considerable time doing things that aren’t just CS oriented. Right now is the perfect time to really experiment and find your interests.

And also lay the foundation for balancing your work/studies and the rest of your life.

On a more serious note - I get the meme but please take care of your physical, mental, and financial health.

I’m not tryna make this deep for no reason but let’s grow and normalize a culture where we put our well-being and happiness first.

Cute cat tho lol

I hate maths btw
 in  r/csMajors  2d ago

I’ve always loved math. Still do. And it’s always been my favourite subject in school until I took CS, at which point they were tied.

Theoretical CS is math bro

I hate maths btw
 in  r/csMajors  2d ago

Buddy I don’t think CS is for you. Everything is a trained skill and you can learn the math, and I think your feelings towards will improve towards it too. But if there’s anything else you see yourself doing I would strongly recommend that because (1) the way you currently feel and (2) the CS market is fucked and (3) ML jobs are hyper competitive rn and unless you are really good it’s tough to get a break, and being really good means having a strong foundational understanding of the math that enables ML.

Ladies, how do you really feel about compliments?
 in  r/uwaterloo  2d ago

Bro she is just another person. Don’t put her on a pedestal. She isn’t special. And women or any group are also not special. Just treat them as how you would treat another guy. If you like her just go talk to her. Maybe ask her out to a coffee. If she says no, no worries, move on. If she says yes, again it’s not a big deal just get a coffee. Basically, just treat them the same as you would anyone else. If you being to build a relationship with them, then you can start to slowly and appropriately treat them differently.

 in  r/csMajors  4d ago

Tru. Now add the notion of “good schools” to it and wait - you realize that labels in general are inconsistent and frankly bullshit.

Grad schools, employers etc. will always care but at least as individuals we should move to not give a fuck.
